The Koforidua Circuit Court A presided over by Her Honor Mrs Janet Animah Maafo has convicted three notorious armed robbers to 60 years imprison with hard labour.

The court also ordered the accused persons to pay Ghc 66,000 being the cost of Toyota Camry they snatched from the complainant and GH₵5,500 being the costs of Apple beat pill speaker, HP Laptop and one iPhone to the complainant.

The three convicts who have been on Police wanted list had earlier been jailed 20 years each over their involvement in another robbery case.

The suspects are Samuel Kwame Asare popularly known as Boys Abr3, 24, Kofi Yakubu known as Cobra 23 and Samuel Baafi Appiah known as Oscar 26 years have been terrorizing residents of Koforidua and its environs.

The three suspects have specialized in car snatching and are also engaged in other criminal activities.

Their modus operandi was that after snatching cars of their victims, they beat and tie the them up, lock them in the car boot, drive away and dump the suffocating victims in the bush and bolt with their cars and other stolen items.

They were arrested upon intelligence by the Suhum Police command at about 11:30 pm Wednesday, February 7, 2018. A search conducted in their room found a stethoscope and one sphygmomanometer.

Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh said the robbers were arrested after they robbed an auditor some few months ago and were subsequently processed for court.

He said the sentence will boost their fight against crime and serve as a deterrent to other robbers and car snatching syndicates.

The court will on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, deliver judgement on another robbery case involving the convicts.
