The chiefs and people of Tarkwa in the Western Region Wednesday morning staged a demonstration to protest over bad roads in the town.
The residents also blocked the movement of the convoy of the Minister of Lands and Forestry as a way of making their grievances known to the government.

Joy News’ Justice Baidoo reported that the residents blocked roads leading to and through the town and burnt tyres bringing vehicular movements to a total standstill.
The residents who are united in grief, say the roads are very dilapidated despite several promises from subsequent governments to fix them.
Gyaasehene of Tarkwa Nana Dr Adarkwa Bediako III said who appears to be in full support of the actions of the residents said they were giving the government two weeks to fix the roads lest they will advise themselves.

MCE for the area, Gilbert Ken Asmah, reacting to the protests said he has been engaging stakeholders to look for funding to fix the road.
Justice Baidoo who has been touring the area with the Lands and Natural Resources Minister and his deputy told Adom News that the angry crowd was dispersed by the police, bringing temporary calm to the town.
