Stephen Appiah, Brand Ambassador for Betway Ghana Limited, – a sports betting company in Ghana, has said the selection of players in the Betway football talent hunt project, has been his biggest challenge.

The former captain of the Black Stars, said, almost all the players who presented themselves for the talent hunt exercise, were very skilful and this made it difficult for him to settle on the best 22.

“Sometimes, we are even compelled to pick 32 players, because we had more talented players coming for exercise,” he added.

He made the statement at a press conference organised by Betway, in Sunyani, to brief media about the second edition of the Betway talented search initiative, aimed at unearthing the next generation of football stars in the country.

Appiah said the country abounds in football talents, that were hidden because of poverty, adding that such talents need to be developed to revive football in Ghana.

The initiative, attracted many young footballers, between 18 and 25 years, with Appiah leading the panel of coaches and the scouting team.

He said the programme would give aspiring professional footballers, across the country, the opportunity to exhibit their talents and to reach higher heights in their career.
