Sheikh Aremeyaw Shuaib,
spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has
revealed the real reason why the Chief Imam visited the Christ the King Catholic
Church on Easter Sunday.
According to him, the visit was a symbolic gesture of friendship to solidify the existing inter-religious peace in Ghana.

The National Chief Imam on Sunday, ahead of his centenary birthday on Tuesday joined congregants of the Christ the King Church in Accra to worship.
Speaking on Accra-based
Citi FM, monitored by Adomonline, the
spokesperson said the Chief Imam did not attend the church service for the
Easter festive celebration but to exhibit a symbol of interfaith unity.
“As an icon of interfaith dialogue, interfaith harmony, interfaith friendship, he decided to stretch a hand of friendship to a church. That is a symbolic gesture to send a certain strong message for the possibility of Muslims and Christians to live in peace on the foundation of mutual respect, mutual cooperation and mutual solidarity,” he said.

The Chief Imam is celebrating
his 100th birthday today. Activities lined up for the event include
a lecture to be delivered by Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambers with President Nana Addo
Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as special guests.
“The lecture will hinge on the subject of how peace and tolerance can serve as the foundation for national development and we shall be looking at the Sharabutu factor, in other words, the model of leadership of the Chief Imam having to contribute to peace and tolerance,” the spokesperson noted.
