A driver’s mate was killed on Sunday night when a cargo truck crashed into a Yutong VVIP bus at Akotsi Junction on the Kasoa-Winneba highway.
Ten (10) others are said to have sustained several degrees of injuries and are receiving treatment at the Winneba government hospital.
The Awutu Breku District police commander, ASP Samuel Amfo told Adom News’ Kofi Adjei that the VVIP bus with registration number GM 5891-13 which was from Obuasi to Accra collided head on with a cargo truck, with registration number CR 465-11 fully loaded with rice from Accra.
He said the driver of the VVIP truck made a wrongful overtaken and in the course of the overtaking failed breaks and crashed into the cargo vehicle.
The deceased, whose identity is still unknown, according to ASP Amfo attempted to jump out of the vehicle but the vehicle, which somersaulted three times, landed on him.
His body has since been conveyed to the Winneba Hospital morgue.
