The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has congratulated President Nana Akufo Addo for making a positive stand over same-sex marriage in Ghana.

The congratulations came after President Nana Akufo-Addo said his government has no plans of changing the laws of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender right in the country.

The President said they have no authority and they will not seek any authority to do so.

Nana Akufo-Addo made this statement at the Global Evangelical Church at the Legon Hall, University of Ghana.

The General Secretary of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Emmanuel T. Barrigah congratulated the President for declaring his stand for such act.

He said they have been waiting for such answer from the president and therefore they will continue to support the president both physical and spiritual so the legalization of same sex will null and void.

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council on June 30 and July 2, 2018 organized a nationwide three days prayer event to raise the consciousness of public opinion about grave social choices of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights in Ghana.

The General Secretary believes homosexuality is demonic thus it is about time Christians pray ceaselessly for God to intervene.

Mr. Barrigah believes the pressure from Western countries to get Ghana and other African countries to embrace same-sex marriages is part of a bigger scheme to dominate the continent.

The GPCC General Secretary said even the European Court on Human Right recently ruled unanimously against LGBT right so they will not allowed any person to mislead the country.

He told Adom News reporter, Kofi Nkansah that, though they will show love to gays and lesbians, they won’t support it legalization.

Same-sex relations are illegal in 36 Commonwealth member states, including nine that have a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

In Ghana, a law against ‘unnatural carnal knowledge’ is interpreted as criminalizing same-sex sexual encounters, especially between two males.
