The lack of potable drinking water in Janakura in the Central Gonja district of the Northern region is making life unbearable for residents in the area.
Unlike some other communities who have dugouts, treated water and wells, the community has had no source of water supply for decades.
Residents of the area told Adom News that they buy water from neighboring communities which are miles away.

Residents now fetch their drinking water from a hole created on a portion of a nearby road which has been created as a result of ongoing construction works.
The almost milky water has become the only source of water for residents in the area.
One resident who spoke with Adom News’ Illiasu Abdul Rauf appealed to the government to extend its 1-village 1-dam policy to the area.

The Assemblyman for the area, Yakubu Mahama, confirming the difficulties faced by the community said his outfit has written and submitted proposals to government agencies, NGOs and cooperate organizations to come to their aid but all have proved futile.
