President of King Faisal FC Alhaji Karim Grunsah thinks FIFA’s lifetime ban on former Ghana Football Association chief Kwesi Nyantakyi is ‘too harsh’.

The former CAF Vice president was handed a lifetime ban and imposed a fine of 500,000 Swiss Francs which translates to 2,414,276.46 Ghana cedis and 497,490.00 dollars respectively.

Nyantakyi who was also FIFA Council member and Caf’s first vice president was handed the punishment after almost four months since he was captured in an investigative documentary, by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger eye PI team, engaging in corrupt activities.

Per the verdict by FIFA , Nyantakyi has been forced into an early retirement from all football related activities.

In response to this, a former contestant for the Ghana Football Association presidential position ,Alhaji Grusah believes the punishment meted out to Mr Nyantakyi is severe.

“I strongly believe that the decision from the adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee is too harsh. A lot of people have done worse than what Kwesi Nyantakyi got himself into but weren’t given such punishments,” Grunsah told Goal.com.
“I believe Nyantakyi must appeal this decision because it is possible that it can be overturned or the punishment reduced to a certain number of years.
“Another surprise was when I heard that he should pay a fine of almost $500,000 after all these troubles. I’m not happy with what has happened to him and will advise that he sees his lawyers as soon as possible,” he added.
