National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Sammy Gyamfi says the incumbent government is lying for saying it owes National Health Insurance Scheme service providers five months only.
According to Mr Gyamfi, the government has been owing the service providers for almost a year and therefore is not truthful with Ghanaians.
“The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) said the NDC was lying for saying that they owed service providers for almost a year, but owed only five months.
“According to Joy News investigations made by Evans Mensah and Emefah on News Night yesterday, the service providers they spoke to in the Upper East Region said the government owes them 11 months, but some of them have had payment for three months which supports our claims made on the third edition of the ‘Moment of Truth’ press conference,” he stated on Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.
The politician said for every country to grow and develop, matters of healthcare should be very important.
“In the third edition of ‘Moment of Truth’, we held a press conference and we brought factual evidence to show that the incumbent government in two years and some months in government had left our healthcare scattered which is affecting service providers and hospital suppliers.
“For any country to grow and develop, their healthcare sector must be improved. In Ghana, our main healthcare service is the NHIA, if our leaders do not put things in place for the scheme to stand, it will affect everybody whether the New Patriotic Party or NDC,” he stated.
He
further cautioned the incumbent government to be factual about the information
they give to the public.
“It’s not about sitting on social media and other media platforms and lying. It’s about facts and figures and what the record says. So far, not a single fact from the incumbent government has gone contrary to the evidence and report from the NDC press conference,” he stated.
