The Electoral Commission of Ghana has urged security personnel and the general public whose names have gone missing in the special voter’s register to remain calm.
Some persons who are supposed to take part in the Special Voting exercise have been turned away by EC officials because they could not find their names in the Special Voter’s register.
In a statement signed by the commission’s Head of Communication, Eric Kofi Dzapkasu, it states that the commission is fully aware of the challenges some of them are facing at the various polling stations with the Special Voters List.
The issue he said was discussed with the Presidential Candidates and their running mates at a Presidential Dialogue organized by the commission Thursday morning on the elections.
“The commission is working with the hierarchy of the security agencies to resolve the challenge as soon as possible. We urge the security personnel affected to remain calm” part of the statement said.
According to the Commission, over 127,394 special voters, comprising security personnel, electoral commission officials and the media, will be casting their votes at designated polling centers across the country.
The results of this special vote, the commission said, will not be declared until December 7.
