A Communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has described newly nominated Special Prosecutor, Martin ABK Amidu as someone who in recent times has sought the downfall of the NDC party.
Sammy Gyamfi believes Martin Amidu did this through various covert and overt means when John Mahama was President.
He thus argued that he was not shocked when Martin Amidu’s named cropped up as the President’s nominee for the post of Special Prosecutor.
This is my personal opinion and I believe Martin Amidu is more NPP than even Nana Akufo-Addo…he has displayed that in recent times,” he said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Programme on Friday.
To Sammy Gyamfi, Martin Amidu is someone who is no longer in touch with the NDC party and President knowing this very well decided to exploit this and use it against the NDC.
“Everybody knows that Martin Amidu has fallen apart with the NDC…the NPP is only seeking to exploit this against the NDC…,” he claimed.
Responding to suggestions that supporters of the NDC ought to be happy with the appointment of Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor, Sammy Gyamfi said he does not see a reason to be happy when the man fought the NDC tooth and nail when the party was in power.
“Why should we be happy…we are unhappy just as NPP supporters will not be happy when Paul Afoko despite being a member of the NPP is appointed Electoral Commissioner…,” he said.
