The father of a 17-year-old first year female student of Ghana National School in Cape Coast is threatening to take on the school for their alleged negligence that led to the death of his only daughter.
The deceased, Ruby Teiko, an asthmatic, was said to have complained twice of difficulty in breathing during a dormitory inspection at the Elsie Dadzie Hall but her complaints were ignored until she passed out.

She was rushed to the Cape Coast Government Hospital in a taxi where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Father of the deceased, Amannor Ok told Adom News that last Saturday, an Assistant House Mistress from the school called him to go to the school immediately because something was wrong with his daughter so she had been rushed to the hospital.
“I drove from Accra straight to the hospital only to be told by the doctor in charge that my daughter was dead on arrival,” he said.
According to him, the doctor further explained that the deceased was brought to the hospital by four students without a teacher or senior person from the school accompanying them.

“The doctor told me that the four students told him on record that my daughter complained of breathlessness twice but the House Mistress on duty and another gentleman told her to wait until the dormitory inspection was over,” he said.
Indeed, when Adom News reached out to the hospital, a doctor there confirmed that they have the narration of the students on record and it was exactly what the man said.
Amannor OK said later when he went to the school to collect her daughters items the school authorities didn’t even know he had already been to the hospital.

He is blaming the school for negligence because they were very much aware the girl was asthmatic and yet they ignored her complaints until she passed out on campus.
Amannor OK said he believes his daughter sacrificed her life to expose the lackadaisical attitude of the school’s authorities towards their work so he will pursue the matter to its logical conclusion and get justice for her daughter.
Meanwhile, doctors say autopsy report on the cause of death will be ready today.

I nearly lost my life I a similar situation, I gave my house mistress a list of drugs prescribed by the nurse at the dispensary on Friday and I waited lifelessly until Sunday only for her to tell me she forgot and has even misplaced the list. God saved me!

Teachers tend to ignore some serious situations in the school because they think all students are the same..They think one student lied about hr health so the rest can also do that even when the situation is serious… how can you tell a sick student to wait till you are done with your non-profitable inspection… what is wrong with you at all.. this is very serious.. this attitude is not found among the housemistresses only but among the nurses in the school too.. i have been a victim and i know what i am talking about.. in fact if we are all called upon to be witnesses in court we will not waste so much time to come and testify against them.. what nonsense.. THIS MUST STOP… this is not the first time and it will not be the last until necessary actions have taken place… i can actually type more and more… But this attitude of these teachers must come to a complete END.

This is sad! This issue should be treated seriously. I am an old student and I must say, this isn’t the first time a student ,a sick one for that matter has been treated like this. He carried him up his back to the infirmary, one outstanding thing is that, he followed up form time to time to check up on him. He is very loving and caring. I wish we have more of these teachers. My condolences to the family members. May God bless the gud teachers n for those who are found lacking in their duties, may they learn form their mistakes.

I have been a victim before but God saved me.
I nearly died in the school because i was denied an exeat to go home for treatment so i was camped in the school for almost 2weeks till they realized my condition is getting worse.Those housemasters and mistresses have got what they have ever wanted… Their cup is full now…R.I.P Rubby
It the best decision the father is taking, I had a similar problem, imagine an asthmatic student scrubbing, after scrubbing I get an attack because of the inhalation of the parazone(acashia), I complained several tyms nd was change to go nd sweep, the place I was to sweep too was dusty nd I always had issues with my house prefect because I won’t and she will come and call me in class, an asthmatic student who sweep nd wash sieves, national teachers don’t take the issues of the student paramount, all that they know is to insults students parent, I even learnt this so called headmistress is worse, I agree with the father to take all legal action against the school.
