The 58-year-old man allegedly inflicted cutlass wounds on his sister, after accusing her of being a witch

A 58-year-old man has allegedly inflicted cutlass wounds on his 60-year-old sister, Akua Ampofowaah after accusing her of being a witch.

According to reports, the suspect, Yaw Nuamah, who lives with his sister at Assin Dansame in the Central region, has been suffering from epilepsy. All medications to treat the illness has not worked.

He, thus, accused his sister of being behind his predicament. So out of frustration, Mr Nuamah took a cutlass and inflicted wounds on her.

She raised an alarm when her brother was carrying out the barbaric act and Mr Nuamah was arrested and later put before court.

The Assin Fosu District Court, presided over by His Worship Djanie Kotey, ordered the family of Mr Nuamah to send him to the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital for medical checkup and reappear on the 9th of April, 2019 for further trial.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Gabriel Woyongo told the court that, Mr Nuamah claimed that the epileptic disease was given to him by his elder sister, hence the attempt to kill her.

Meanwhile, the victim been sent to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.
