Dan Kwaku Yeboah

A spokesperson for the premier league clubs, Patrick Akoto has stated that Normalization Committee’s spokesperson, Dan Kweku Yeboah, has been misinformed on the purpose of the $800,000 given to the committee by the government.

Akoto disclosed on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show that the chairman of the Normalization Committee, Dr Kofi Amoah, told the clubs that the $800,000 from the government was purposely for the organisation of the Special Competition and not to reform Ghana football in general.

But Mr Akoto says he doesn’t understand why an amount designated for a competition for premier and division one teams will be used for women and Division II football.

“The $800,000 was earmarked for the competition and nothing else; the spokesperson has not been attending our meetings so he was misinformed by the normalization committee,” he said.

“At our meeting with the Normalization Committee which the likes of Togbe Afede, Mark Noonan, John Ansah, Oduro Sarfo were all present, Dr Kofi Amoah told us straight in our face that, if we say we will not play the competition, they will rather use the money for Division 2 and Women football,” he added.
