The Board Chairman of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor has assured that he is going to take good care of pension funds.
The former Defense Minister speaking on Adom FM’s ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Thursday said he is aiming at making the pension trustee financial viable for secured investments for pensioners across the country.

“I’m not at SNNIT for chop chop; I have a lot of sympathy for pensioners so I will secure their future,” he stated.
Dr. Addo-Kufuor made the comment while discussing the outcome of the PriceWaterHouseCooper’s audit into the $72 million OBS software saga.
The software was to help in networking all branches of SSNIT across the country to enable them to receive real-time data directly from the headquarters in Accra and enhance efficiency but it emerged that the entire OBS was not functioning despite the huge money spent on it.
About five people including Former Director-General of SSNIT, Ernest Thompson are currently being investigated by the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) for their involvement in the acquisition of the OBS software.

Dr Addo-Kufour assured that they will not shield anyone found culpable.
He indicated that, SSNIT and EOCO are embarking on a house cleaning exercise to rid the system off corruption.
The SSNIT Board Chairman stressed that, corruption is a bane to Ghana’s development hence the need for prudent measures to nib it in the bud.

“If corruption fight is won in Ghana, we will not need aid to develop the country,” he noted.
Dr. Addo-Kufuor called on Ghanaian workers not to panic in the wake of the problems at SSNIT insisting their investments are safe.
