Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament, Samuel George Nettey, has set the records straight on his position regarding placards wielded by a section of the minority in parliament with the inscription, “bloody widow”.
In an interview granted adomonline.com in reaction to an earlier publication under the headline, Audio: Sam George justifies ‘bloody widow placard’, the Ningo-Prampram legislator said he was misrepresented on the issue.
Setting the record straight on what he really said in that interview with Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Sam George explained that he had told host of the show, Philip Osei Bonsu, and rightly so, that “I am in no position to pass moral judgment on anybody; I don’t have the capacity to pass moral judgement”.
Per this explanation, it is clear that Mr Sam George neither justified nor endorsed the “bloody widow” placards even though he advised the newly-elected member of parliament to get used to such “normal parliamentary” practices.
Some minority members of parliament had, on Tuesday carried placards that had the inscription, “bloody widow” prior to the swearing-in of madam Lydia Alhassan.
