Henry Kokofu, former MP, Bantama

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam show, Wednesday, Mr Kokofu said “I am surprised the NDC now has so much courage to talk about NHIS because when it was being introduced by former President Kufuor, they told us (NPP) NHIS won’t stand the test of time because it is not viable and even boycotted its passage in Parliament.

“They even described President Kufuor as wicked because he could have made the premium a one-time payment and even promised they will make it a one-time premium if they should assume power in 2008, but what did they do?” he quizzed.

The NHIS is deemed as one of the legacies of the John Agyekum Kufuor administration which eliminated the ‘cash and carry’ healthcare delivery system in Ghana.
