Heavy rains wreak havoc at Twifo Hemang

Heavy rain on Sunday wreaked havoc at Twifo Hemang in the Lower Denkyira district of the Central Region, with many people rendered homeless.

The rains which were accompanied by strong winds brought down trees, electricity poles, bill boards and flooded major areas.

A resident in the area, K.O. Acquah who narrowly escaped death in an interview on Adom News said many have been rendered homeless.

He said more than 100 houses have been submerged leaving residents in a hopeless state.

Mr Acquah said the displaced residents were left with no option, but to spend the night with friends and relatives after the devastation.

Though no casualties were recorded, he lamented how the situation has been a drawback for them, as the water level rose to neck level.

Mr. Acquah appealed to government for support as the situation has also distorted electricity supply to the area.
