Health Minister, Kweku Agyemang Manu says a committee would be set to investigate the attack on the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Dr David Akolbila was last Monday allegedly attacked and chased out of his office by persons suspected to be pro-NPP vigilante group, Kandahar Boys. The group has however denied any involvement.

The men accused the CEO of corruption, nepotism and mismanagement of the hospital’s resources and called on the president to replace him.

They also claimed that the CEO has been awarding hospital contracts to some seven companies he personally owns.

Dr Akolbila has been taken back to but the Health Minister who has been in the Northern Region in the wake of the brouhaha says the development is not one government wants to encourage.

“So I have agreed with them that we are going to set up a small committee to come down and look at what the challenges are,” he said.

He said calls for forensic audit of the hospital’s books would be left to the Auditor General.

He has also directed the hospital to begin to engage more with the people to build up the trust between the hospital and the people.

Mr Aygeman added that he would also be meeting with the party’s leadership to engage them on how to end these hostilities.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Ambrose Derry is urging persons accusing the CEO of corruption to report the allegations at the appropriate quarters for action to be taken against him.

“If you have allegations of corruption, you go to the appropriate quarters to make the complaint…report to the police or any state institutions that is tasked to deal with corruption.

“But you cannot take the law into your own hands and decide who is corrupt and who is not,” he added.
