The Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta has disclosed that about 271,000 young people between 2017 and 2018 have been enrolled in the Free Senior High school programme of the Akufo-Addo led administration.
He said this when reading the 2019 Ghana budget themed; a stronger economy with jobs and prosperity on Thursday, November 15, 2018, in Parliament.

The Finance Minister stated that, about 90,000 young Ghanaians were enrolled in 2017 with about 181,000 also enrolled in 2018.
“These young people who would not have been able to attend secondary schools made it because of the free SHS policy. We cannot downplay how this is significant this is to build a future for every citizen of this land and the president maintains he is leaving no one out.”

The free SHS policy is an initiative introduced by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure accessible, equitable, quality and life-changing education for every Ghanaian child.
The Free SHS Policy also ensures that students from basic public schools have equal opportunity to enroll in any of the top senior high schools in the country.
