The work of immigration officers at Ghana’s borders is said to be impeded greatly due to the lack of logistical support.

It has emerged that some of the officer working on the Ghana/Cote D’Iviore border work under cashew trees for want of proper office spaces.

An Adom FM Correspondent in the Western Region, Kwabena Yeboah, has reported from Sampa on Fabewoso that work at the border has become ineffective due to the situation.

He said the only shelter the immigration officers at that frontier have are the shades from the cashew trees.

Even more worrying, Kwabena Yeboah, said is the absence of guns for personnel of the paramilitary service in the area.

“Smugglers have a field day because the immigration officers don’t have logistics to prevent them as they fear for their lives since most of the smugglers are armed,” he added.
