A tax expert, Mr Kwaku Agyei Nyamekye has asked the Commissioner-General of Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Mr Emmanuel Kofi Nti to step down from his office for overseeing the deliberate evasion of taxes by numerous companies.

Captain Smart on Adom FM’s Fabewoso segment of the Dwaso Nsem morning show discussed how a number of companies have succeeded in evading taxes, citing the Auditor General Report as his primary source.

He said an Energy company was owing the state about GH₵ 11 million Ghana Cedis and a bonded warehouse was yet to pay about 103 million Ghana Cedis while the Kotoka International Airport owed 33 million Ghana Cedis on re-exporting charges and many other companies that have failed to pay their taxes.

Reacting to the news, Mr Nyamekye who is a tax expert called on President Akufo-Addo to remove the GRA Boss from office.

According to him, the GRA boss has failed in ensuring that all the said taxes are collected.

“The commissioner general must resign. How can you sit down for this to happen under your watch,” he asked.
