Special Prosecutor nominee, Martin ABK Amidu, says he is not prepared to live in harmony with criminals.
Answering questions from Parliament’s Appointment Committee on Tuesday, Martin Amidu said he has the ability to ‘live in harmony with all manner of persons but not criminals’.
“I have lived in harmony with decent people for all my life but I cannot live in harmony with criminals; that one I, must confess…,” he said.
Martin Amidu’s answer was in response to a question regarding an apology letter he purportedly wrote to late President John Atta Mills after he was sacked as Attorney General.
According to him, the letter was authored under duress.
He named the late Kofi Awoonor and Captain Tsikata as the people who intervened and persuaded him to issue the apology.
According to him, the late President confided in him that he was pressured to ‘sack’ him from his government.
Martin Amidu is currently before Parliament’s Appointment Committee where he is being vetted for the position of a Special Prosecutor following his nomination by the President, Nana Akufo Addo.
