The Electoral Commission (EC) has warned persons who are planning to photograph their thumb-printed ballots after voting in the ongoing elections at Ayawaso West Wuogon to desist from such acts.

According to the Greater Accra Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Kwame Amoah, such practices undermine the secrecy of voting.

Speaking to Captain Smart on Adom FM’s morning show “Dwaso Nsem” Thursday, he noted the practice could induce others to vote for people they did not intend voting for.

“We plead with those who are voting in Ayawaso not to take photos of their ballot papers when caught, you would be arrested and the laws will deal with such persons,” he noted.

He said it was not right for any voter to do anything that could be a source of conflict on the Election Day.

Close to 90,000 voters in Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency will head to the polls today, January 31, 2019, to elect a new Member of Parliament.

Mr Amoah, speaking on the preparations, said all the processes have been finalised and the elections will be held.

Mr Amoah also appealed to voters to come out and exercise their franchise.
