Programmes manager for Hitz FM, Mark Okraku Mantey, has advised Ghanaian musicians to avoid the use of swear words in their beef songs.
According to him, musicians serve as role models and as such, must be careful of the content of the songs they put out.
Speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mark said musicians may lose focus of lyrical content if their kinds of music aren’t checked.
“If you say they [beef songs] are bringing commerce, [what happens] after the money; what kind of children do we want to nurture? What you turn your children into, determines if you will benefit in your old age,” he noted.
Mark said this on the back of the Sarkodie’s newly released freestyle song against Shatta Wale.
He advised Sarkodie and other musicians avoid the use of profane because they have the tendency to affect the upcoming generation.
“The children who will watch the song on YouTube will emulate Sarkodie because he is the one they look up to. I can’t count the number of F’s he used in the song,” he said.
