Charles Bissue taking money in the footage

Joseph Yamin, a former deputy minister for Ashanti Region, has questioned the motive behind government’s request for the unedited footage of Tiger Eye PI’s expose on corruption within the illegal mining taskforce.

He said the request ironically undermines the anti-galamsey war being waged by the government.

He has described the request as cover-up for the government’s bad deeds as far as the issue of illegal mining is concerned.

“Sometimes, the posture of government tells me that they cannot be trusted. When Nyantakyi’s issue came, the President was so much in a hurry to get him investigated because his name was implicated but failed to take strict measures when it came to galamsey. I think he is only trying to cover their bad deeds” he said on Adom TV’s morning show, Badwam.

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah had said the government would act on the video in which some officials of the Inter-ministerial Committee on illegal mining were caught taking bribes only upon receipt of the unedited clips from the production team.

He told journalists that a thorough investigation would be conducted, promising that no one found culpable will be shielded.

“The government will have the said tapes properly investigated using the raw unedited footage and if any person is found to have solicited money or taken bribe to bend rules, the necessary actions will be taken,” he said.

But Joseph Yamin said based on that custom, government’s only aim is to discredit the work of Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his team.
