The National Democratic Congress has pulled out of the on-going Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections after 6 people were reportedly shot.

Gunshots were allegedly fired at the Baweleshie Polling Centre in the on-going by-election in the Ayawaso constituency following an impasse over the polls.

The gunshots according to Multimedia reporter, Roland Walker, were fired around the candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Delali Kwasi Brempong’s residence.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show, the Communications officer for the NDC Sammy Gyamfi confirmed the party has withdrawn from the elections following the chaos.

“This is a sad day for Ghana and so the NDC cannot continue with the elections. The NPP can take the seat and run the elections with the Jean Mensa EC they bought.”

Going further, Sammy Gyamfi attributed the cause of the shooting to the ruling NPP and added the NDC’s candidate Delali Brempong has been held hostage in his residence.

“The NPP gave the men security uniforms to wear and names of the people they want dead and that is why Sam George was attacked and beaten for no reason. The wickedness has been executed by the NPP and the Nana Addo led administration is too much for us. They can’t watch them kill our people.”

Sammy Gyamfi also urged all members of the party to move to the party office for an immediate press conference.
