Mangoase Senior High School in the Eastern Region have been in total darkness for the past weeks due to the inability of the school authority to service utility bills to the tune of about GH¢ 30,000.00.

Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mr. Norga told Adom News students are unable to attend night prep to study because of the absence of power and this he indicated, has badly affected academic work of the school for the past weeks.

“We owe close to GH¢ 30,000.00 and we have only paid GHC 8,000.00 yet ECG says it is not enough for them to restore the energy.

“The students for three days did not go for evening prep. Presently, lucky enough, the students are on a mid-term break so none of them are available now. We hope they could return to the school to see lights welcoming them gladly” he said.

Meanwhile, a former student of the school, Abdul Mumuni told Adom News some students fear the power problem will increase sexual promiscuity among students and thereby increase pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s).

He has therefore appealed to the power producers to immediately act fast by restoring power to the school to prevent such acts.
