Residents of GCD Walker Electoral area and Amanfrom Camp in the Denkyembuor District of the Eastern Region are expressing worry over incessant power cuts.
They say unreliable power supply has already forced several relationships to break down because men who are breadwinners can no longer fend for their families.
Residents say they have been forced to live in this condition for over six months after several appeals to the Electricity Company of Ghana failed to address their concerns.

Assemblyman for the area, John Osborn Quansah, who disclosed this on Adom FM’s Morning Show, “Dwaso Nsem” on Tuesday says many residents have lost their livelihoods.
According to him, the situation is impacting negatively on small and medium scale businesses, mostly run by women.

“For over six months, we have been faced with power problems. This has affected us to the extent that some women are attempting to leave their husbands because of the power issues. Business activities have almost come to a halt,” he said.
District Chief Executive, Bekran Ofosu, explains that the situation is as a result of VRA’s decision to cut power to Great Consolidated Diamond Company for non-payment of bills.

That notwithstanding, he promised to work with Energy Ministry to help resolve the issue.
