Deputy Agric Minister, George Oduro, has admitted that there are challenges with maize pricing in the country but says there is no shortage.
According to him, the increasing price of maize is not a sign of shortage in supply as some poultry farmers have portrayed.
“There is no shortage of maize in the country; the problem has to do with the pricing and that is what we want Ghanaians to understand and bear with us as we resolve the issue”, he said.

Speaking exclusively in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Wednesday, Mr. Oduro said licensed maize buying companies have bought off the staple for poultry and will soon sell it to persons in need of the commodity.
His comment follows complaints by poultry farmers across the country concerning the shortage of maize in the country.

The poultry farmers are challenging the deputy minister to lead them to where they can buy the maize.
The Poultry Farmers Association of Ghana, made up of some 4000 members lamented over what they say is a rare crisis.
The Vice-President of the Association, Napoleon Agyemang Oduro on the same show said the scarcity of maize has affected their work because poultry farmers depend solely on maize as feed for poultry farming, adding the feed for poultry is 50-60 percent maize.
