Key witness in the stealing of food items meant for students of the Ghana Senior High school in Koforidua has revealed that he mounted strict surveillance to track down the matron of the school after he learning she (matron) has been diverting food items in her previous workplace.
Kofi Kanjagan, who is the chief security of the school today mounted the witness box to corroborate with prosecution on series of events leading to the arrest of the matron, Comfort Oduro Bruce and Alfred Kumah, a driver of the school.
Led in evidence by Dickson Donkor, assistant state attorney, the security man told the court he accosted them at the school’s gate and reported them to the headmaster, Very Rev. Abraham Osei Donkor who later set a committee to look into the case.
A circuit Court in Koforidua in the Eastern region last week granted bail to the matron and a driver of the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) who allegedly stole food items meant for students.
At the court, Her Honour, Janet Anima Margo slapped a GHC30,000 on each of the suspects with two sureties.
They pleaded not guilty to charges of stealing and abetment of crime respectively.
They were reportedly caught red-handed by the chief security man of the school, Kofi Kanjagan, when she and the driver was transporting the foodstuffs with a GES vehicle with registration number, GN 6717-15, a few weeks ago.
According to the security man, on 16th November, 2017, at 7pm, the matron packed the big truck with sacks of gari, cartons of milk, rice, tins of Milo, cartons of tomatoes, among other items.
The court adjourned sitting to January, 16 to allow suspects of the counsel to continue cross examining the witness.
