Afia Pokua’s (Vim Lady) Vim Foundation has painted 12 blocks of four basic schools in Kwahu in the Eastern region.
The exercise was to brighten abandoned schools in the deprived communities.
Vim Foundation initially painted a six-classroom block she built for Kumasi-Amenam in the Ashanti region.
According to her, she was saddened when she saw the nature of some schools in Kwahu, so she challenged herself to paint at least 12 blocks which are Mpraeso Methodist A & B, Atibie Presbyterian ‘A’ School, popularly known as Oboo Government School, Yaw Tenkorang Presby D/A Primary School and Wisiwisi Presby School, all in the Mpraeso Constituency.

She added that as part of efforts to enhance quality education, she decided to paint the beneficiary schools.

Headmaster of Oboo Government School, Mr Emmanuel Asante Acheampong in an interview thanked the foundation for the love shown them.
He said the school was built in 1917 and for over 25 years has not been painted.

Mr Acheampong said though the school has a lot of plots to build teachers bungalow, no one is willing to help, making teaching tedious for teachers.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwahu-Mpraeso Constituency, Mr Seth Kwame Acheampong said it was difficult for non-governmental organisations or philanthropists to do something of the sort for people in rural areas and expressed gratitude to the founder of the Foundation for the help.
He also called on the general public to keep supporting the organisation to do more.
Afia Pokua thanked the MP and donors for supporting her.

She said she will be embarking on another project and thanked all those who donated and volunteered to support the school project.
