The National Democratic Congress [NDC], has closed nominations for the upcoming parliamentary primaries towards the by-election for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

At the close of nomination on Thursday, December 20, 2019, 8 people had picked forms to contest in the elections.

The 8 people include actor John Dumelo, Delali Kwasi Brempong, Ekow Acquah,  Ewoenam Y.A. Attiolokpo, Catherine Abrokwa Mante, Alhaji Isaah Kamara , Kojo Twum Boafo and Dela Salassie.

The cost of nomination forms and filing fees was GH¢1,000 and GH¢10,000 for women and men respectively, with a 50 per cent discount on the filing fees for women and persons with disability.

In an interview with Accra-based Citi FM, the Constituency Chairman of the NDC Bismarck Aborbi Aryeetey stated the party will do everything possible to capture the seat.

“On Sunday, we will have the vetting and prepare for the primaries on the 28th of December for us to have a candidate who will lead the party in the bye-election.”

The seat became vacant following the death of the New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for the constituency Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko on Wednesday, November 21, in the United States of America.
