A MOTORBIKE rider met his untimely death after being squeezed by two vehicles at Atadeka, a suburb of Zenu in the Kpone-Katamanso District of the Greater Accra Region.

The rider, Godfred Adzawoho, who was at the scene on the Atadeka-Katamanso road upon arrival of the police, was rushed to the hospital but he was pronounced dead the following day while receiving treatment.

Remains of the rider have been deposited at the Tema General Hospital morgue ahead of autopsy.

Information available to DAILY GUIDE indicates that Godfred was riding from Atadeka towards the Katamanso direction. On reaching a section of the road at Down Town city, he overtook a VW Jetta saloon car with registration number GW1570 X. The VW Jetta was facing the Nissan Sunny saloon car with registration number GR 5110 H in the opposite direction.

In an attempt to save the rider, the driver swerved to the opposite lane and collided with the VW Jetta saloon, resulting in the trapping of the Apsonic motorbike (registration number M-18 GR 1054) in between. The accident occurred at about 8:30 pm.

Speaking to the Commander of the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) Ashaiman Division, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Isaac K. Forson, told DAILY GUIDE that the accident was not reported but the patrol team for that night came across it.

He further explained that the drivers were nowhere near the scene but the rider was seen lying on the road in a pool of blood.

He said: “The rider couldn’t speak before dying so we were not able to get any information from him about the drivers hence no one has been arrested but the cars and the motorbike are in our custody”.

Samuel Doe, an eyewitness and a driver who plies the road often, expressed his displeasure about a hole on the road, urging the Kpone-Katamanso District Assembly to seal it.
