A 12-year-old boy has been shot dead in a suspected renewed Alavanyo and Nkonya clashes in the Volta Region.

It is not clear who the assailants are, but Joy News’ correspondent Ivy Setordzie reports the boy, Prince Kwakutsey, a primary school boy, was shot in the chest in Alavanyo by some gunmen who stormed his parents’ home Thursday.

Other members of the family have sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment from at the government hospital.

This comes two weeks after a 16 year old student was shot at Nkonya.

It is however unclear if the latest development is linked to the conflict between the 2 towns.

An Assembly Member of the area, Raymond Tsokor told Ivy Sertodjie the attackers fled the scene after the shooting.

He said the entire community has been thrown into a state of shock and fear over the development.

The police in the Volta Region are yet to confirm the incident.
