Fifa Women’s World Cup: Ghana captain’s goal nominated for the goal of the tourney award


Captain of the Black Maidens, Sandra Owusu Ansah is one of 10 nominees who will be contending for the best goal award at the just ended competition in Jordan.

The 16-year netted a breath taking volley which helped the team progress to the next round of the competition.

The Supreme Ladies striker subsequently won the player of the match in the team’s victory over Paraguay.

She will be competing with Japanese Saori Takarada, Civana Kuhlmann from the USA, Cameroonian Alexandra Takounda and Deyna Castellanos from Venezuela.

Other nominees for this prestigious award are Giulia Gwinn (Germany), Abu Sabbah (Jordan), Hae Yon Ri (Korea DPR), Deyna Castellanos (Venezuela) and  Ashley Sanchez (USA),Saori Takarada (Japan), Civana Kuhlmann (USA), Alexandra Takounda(Cameroon) and Deyna Castellanos (Venezuela).
