Most people think that if they will eat everything in moderation, it would not affect their waistline, but the reality is quite the opposite. Sorry for bursting your bubble, but as per a recent study, eating in moderation may lead to weight gain, not weight loss.

Trying different food items in a regulated manner not only leads to weight gain but also increases the risk of diabetes over 10 years, revealed a study published in a journal PLOS ONE.

The study

The study was carried out on 7000 people, in which the researchers recorded their eating habits, calorie intake, and the number of different foods they eat in a week.

The result was quite shocking for all. It was revealed that people who tried the widest variety of foods has 120 percent higher chance of increasing the waist size and were more likely to gain weight than those who stuck to the few foods groups they knew and loved to eat.

The reason

The reason being that all those tasting may lead you to ignore hunger signals and eat more. They just eat food items high in fat, sugar and added preservatives, rather than focusing on the benefit of eating fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Your diet quality is paramount when you are trying to shed kilos than anything else.

Bottom line

However, the research does not suggests to eschew yourself from having a piece of cake on special occasions, but it advises that it is better to just stick to few food healthy items than moderately indulging in many treats.
