In a letter signed by the Regional Secretary, Dr. Tanko Daniel Dawda, the party stated that the decision followed a review by the Regional Executive Committee, which considered the findings and recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee.

The letter noted that Mr. Wuoyang demonstrated respect throughout the disciplinary process and expressed genuine interest in working for the party’s progress.

His reinstatement, however, is conditional upon the submission of a written, unqualified apology to the Regional Executive Committee.

The decision was unanimously approved at a meeting held on April 27, 2025.

Copies of the communication have been forwarded to the party’s General Secretary and the NPP Constituency Chairman in Nandom.

Boakye Agyarko cautions NPP over ‘Thank You’ Tour https://www.adomonline.com/boakye-agyarko-cautions-npp-over-thank-you-tour/ Tue, 29 Apr 2025 09:26:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529836 A former presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, has expressed concerns over the ongoing nationwide Thank You Tour.

The former Energy Minister said the exercise, which was expected to unite the party and renew hope, is taking a different turn—risking an implosion.

In a statement, he called on the party’s leadership to urgently redirect the initiative to its original purpose.

“What was intended to restore our party’s shine and reconnect us with the grassroots is instead unraveling into bouts of discord, blame-shifting, and internal strife. This regrettable turn of events threatens to inflict serious collateral damage on the very fabric of our party,” he bemoaned.

Agyarko stressed that the increasing internal divisions threaten to undermine the trust and goodwill the NPP has diligently built among the Ghanaian people.

He called for an approach that prioritises genuine reconciliation, solidarity, and purposeful engagement—essential to preserving the NPP’s dignity and unity.

“It is time to apply the brakes and reassess the direction of the Thank You Tour. We must pull back from what increasingly looks like an imminent collision course.”

“Let us seize this moment to renew our collective resolve and ensure that the mission of the Thank You Tour is accomplished in a manner worthy of our party’s proud legacy,” he added.

Speaking during the NPP’s Thank You Tour in Goaso, Dr Bawumia emphasised the importance of listening to the voices of the people following the outcome of the December 2024 general elections.

Addressing a large crowd of supporters and residents, Dr Bawumia said, “You have spoken, and we have heard you. Your concerns, your hopes, and your expectations have been received loud and clear.”

He reiterated the party’s commitment to learning from the experience and using it as a foundation to strengthen their policies and strategies going forward.

Dr Bawumia expressed gratitude to the people of Goaso and the broader Ghanaian populace for their support and constructive feedback.

According to him, the Thank You Tour was not only an expression of appreciation but also an opportunity to reconnect with the grassroots.

The former Vice President further called for unity within the party, urging members and supporters to remain focused and resilient.

Posterity will vindicate Akufo-Addo’s good works – Bawumia https://www.adomonline.com/posterity-will-vindicate-akufo-addos-good-works-bawumia/ Mon, 28 Apr 2025 11:52:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529505 Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed confidence that posterity will vindicate the achievements of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking during the party’s Thank You Tour, Dr Bawumia praised the former President’s leadership, noting that his numerous contributions to national development would be recognised and appreciated in time.

According to Dr Bawumia, Nana Akufo-Addo’s tenure as President brought significant transformation across various sectors of the Ghanaian economy.

“History will be kind to President Akufo-Addo for the bold decisions he made for the benefit of our country,” he stated.

He emphasised that although some of the initiatives might have faced criticism, future generations would look back and applaud the foundations laid under Akufo-Addo’s leadership.

Dr Bawumia, who served as Vice President throughout Akufo-Addo’s administration, highlighted key achievements such as the implementation of Free Senior High School education, the digitalisation of public services, and major infrastructure projects.

“These are not just policies for today; they are investments for the future of Ghana,” he said. He further assured supporters that the NPP remains committed to building on the solid groundwork established during Akufo-Addo’s presidency.

NPP engaged in legal arguments over Chief Justice removal – Amaliba https://www.adomonline.com/npp-engaged-in-legal-arguments-over-chief-justice-removal-amaliba/ Mon, 28 Apr 2025 10:40:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529460 The Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority, Abraham Amaliba, has expressed concerns regarding the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) response to the ongoing proceedings for the potential removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

He characterized the party’s response as indicative of “legal sophistry.”

This development follows President Mahama’s suspension of Chief Justice Torkornoo on April 22, based on a prima facie case arising from three petitions advocating for her removal. The decision was made under Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution in consultation with the Council of State and has prompted the establishment of a five-member committee to investigate the allegations.

In contrast, the NPP has accused the President of engaging in a politically motivated effort to undermine the Chief Justice.

In a recent interview on Channel One TV, Mr. Amaliba emphasized that President John Mahama has diligently adhered to the constitutional procedures set forth in Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.

He further elaborated that legal sophistry refers to the use of misleading arguments or irrelevant points that may divert attention from the fundamental legal matters at hand.

“So far, the President has gone in accordance with the provisions in Article 146, and nobody can fault the President on any process. The procedure is right, and everything is on point, but the NPP is engaged in legal sophistry, trying to introduce irrelevant points not connected to this issue.”

“If you hear a lawyer focusing on the spirit of the law and not the letter of the law, he has lost his case,” he stated.

In response to allegations of political motivation, Mr. Amaliba stated, “If it were political, and the Chief Justice had no baggage in her cupboard, the NDC couldn’t have done anything.”

Why GUM won’t join CJ’s suspension demo – Osofo Kyiri Abosom reveals [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/why-gum-wont-join-cjs-suspension-demo-osofo-kyiri-abosom-reveals-audio/ Mon, 28 Apr 2025 10:21:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529408 The Ghana Union Movement (GUM) has distanced itself from a planned demonstration against the suspension and potential removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Torkonoo.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Monday, GUM’s founder and leader, Christian Kwabena Andrews, clarified that the party had not been informed, engaged, or consulted about any such meeting or protest.

“We are committed to democracy and the rule of law. Any issues concerning the Chief Justice should be addressed through legal channels. GUM has not endorsed or joined in any plans for this demonstration,” he said.

Osofo Kyiri Abosom as he is affectionately called stated that GUM members should refrain from participating in the protest.

“Until there is a verdict, there is no need to demonstrate. Let the legal process take its course,” he directed.

He further explained that although NPP’s Nana Boakye had been approached to join the protest, it was without official communication.

“The protest is in good faith, but we should let the laws work and wait for the verdict. We shouldn’t rush to protest when investigations are not yet complete. Let’s see what has happened, let it become public, and then we can take a stance,” he noted.

Osofo Kyiri Abosom reiterated that the demonstration was unnecessary at this time.

“Until the verdict comes out, we won’t know if she is truly guilty or not. We won’t join any protest,” he added.

He also pointed out that he himself had not received any official information regarding the removal of the Chief Justice.

“I haven’t even seen any information about it petition. I am not privy to it, so there’s no need for me to follow them to protest,” he said.

GUM ON CJ PROTEST

GUM, according to Andrews, believes in the rule of law, and any case involving the Chief Justice should be handled through legal means.

“If anyone believes otherwise, they should exclude GUM from that action,” he added.

The demonstration, scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2025, is organized by a group of political parties opposed to the Chief Justice’s removal.

Posterity will vindicate NPP government’s good works – Bawumia https://www.adomonline.com/posterity-will-vindicate-npp-governments-good-works-bawumia/ Mon, 28 Apr 2025 09:57:16 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529428 Former Vice President and NPP Flagbearer for the 2024 Elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged the rank and file of the NPP to be proud of the good work the government did, despite the disappointment that led to their exit from office.

Speaking during the party’s National Thank You Tour, which he is leading, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged that, despite some issues that were not handled well and led to public frustration, the government also achieved a number of successes that are positively impacting the nation.

“The defeat meant that, as a party, we had to look at the issues that contributed to our loss. It is important to be honest about these issues so we can address them and make the party better,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“I have spoken about these issues, the General Secretary has been speaking about these issues, and the Committee which investigated our defeat has also spoken about them.”

“But despite these issues and the resentment from Ghanaians, our government also did a lot. We achieved a great deal and implemented several initiatives that are positively impacting our nation, and posterity will vindicate us,” Dr. Bawumia said.

The former Vice President listed several of these programmes, including investments in infrastructure, education, health, and digitalisation.

“People may have been upset with us about certain things, but the truth is, we also have a very good record in government with a number of impactful projects.”

“If you look across our eight years in government, we did so much, including Planting for Food and Jobs, One Constituency, One Ambulance to solve the long-standing issue of ambulance shortages, fish landing sites, the Agenda 111 hospital projects, road projects across the country, Free SHS, etc. We did all these, and I believe that, despite the anger over some of our actions and inactions, posterity will be kind to the NPP, our government, and President Akufo-Addo.”

“I believe so because President Kufuor was vilified, and many questioned his work. Today, he is celebrated as one of the best Presidents we have had.”

Bawumia acknowledges sentiments of supporters on why NPP lost 2024 elections https://www.adomonline.com/bawumia-acknowledges-sentiments-of-supporters-on-why-npp-lost-2024-elections/ Mon, 28 Apr 2025 09:54:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529419 Former Vice President and NPP Presidential Candidate for the 2024 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed agreement with supporters of the NPP regarding the reasons behind the party’s loss in the 2024 elections.

Addressing party faithful during the ongoing Thank You Tour, which commenced on Saturday, Dr. Bawumia highlighted a number of factors that he believes accounted for the NPP’s defeat in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Many of the reasons, Dr. Bawumia observed, centered on actions and inactions of the government that angered the people, including the NPP’s own supporters across the country.

“Many people have ascribed reasons why we lost, and some, including our General Secretary, even believe it was spiritual,” Dr. Bawumia said. “But if you look at it carefully, the reasons are many, and some were due to our own decisions and inaction. The cost of living went up, and there was also the issue of arrogance of power.”

Continuing, Dr. Bawumia went into details, highlighting specific issues, including the e-levy and the debt exchange project, factors that party supporters totally agreed with and applauded.

“We faced the issue of high cost of living, arrogance of power, and refusal to listen. The party asked us to do a reshuffle, but we did not listen for eight years. The party and Ghanaians told us they didn’t want the e-levy, but we didn’t listen.”

“Mobile money account users are about 16 million, so if you bring something they don’t like, you’re incurring the wrath of all these people,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“The party told us we should not touch pensioners in the debt restructuring. We had a meeting and decided against it, and the President announced to Ghanaians that there would be no haircut, and everyone was happy. But in the end, there was a haircut, and these bondholders, numbering about 800,000, were affected. These are the middle class, and each of them has dependents.”

Dr. Bawumia also lamented the lack of support for some youth-centered programmes, such as NABCO and youth in afforestation.

“We also refused to pay NABCO workers, who number about 100,000, and virtually cancelled the programme. We also did not pay the youth in afforestation, who were about 75,000.”

Dr. Bawumia further highlighted the poor handling of priority projects in some regions, as well as the controversial national cathedral project.

“The national cathedral was also a very big issue for us because after so much money was pumped in, there was no progress.”

Moving forward, Dr. Bawumia urged all party members to stay united and work hard to correct the challenges faced by the party, as captured by the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee.

We have learnt our lessons as a party, and we will correct ourselves – Bawumia https://www.adomonline.com/we-have-learnt-our-lessons-as-a-party-and-we-will-correct-ourselves-bawumia/ Mon, 28 Apr 2025 09:50:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529411

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured supporters that the party has taken important lessons from recent experiences and is determined to make the necessary corrections.

Speaking during the NPP’s ongoing Thank You Tour, Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence in the party’s ability to rebuild trust and reconnect with the Ghanaian people ahead of the next elections.

“We have learned our lessons as a party, and we will correct ourselves,” Dr. Bawumia stated, addressing a gathering of party faithful and community leaders.

He emphasized that the NPP remains committed to its core values and would work tirelessly to address the concerns of the electorate.

According to him, acknowledging past shortcomings is the first step toward renewal and progress.

The Thank You Tour, which has taken the NPP leadership across various regions of the country, is aimed at expressing gratitude to party members and supporters for their unwavering commitment during the 2024 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia noted that despite the challenges faced, the party’s vision for national development remains intact, and lessons learned would shape a more inclusive and effective governance approach.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Bawumia called for unity among members, urging them to rally behind the leadership as the party charts a new path forward.

“This is not a time for blame, but a time for reflection, correction, and renewed energy,” he said.

He further pledged that the NPP would continue to listen to the voices of Ghanaians and work harder to deliver on its promises.

We lost 2024 because of cost of living issues and poor governance in certain areas – Justin Kodua https://www.adomonline.com/we-lost-2024-because-of-cost-of-living-issues-and-poor-governance-in-certain-areas-justin-kodua/ Sun, 27 Apr 2025 13:29:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529188 The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has attributed the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections largely to the rising cost of living and poor governance in certain areas.

Speaking on Sunday, 27 April, during the party’s Thank You Tour, Mr. Kodua emphasised the need for the NPP to confront these challenges honestly if it hopes to rebuild and regain public trust.

“We lost the 2024 elections because of cost of living issues and poor governance in certain areas,” Mr. Kodua stated.

He explained that the hardships faced by ordinary Ghanaians, particularly in relation to prices of basic goods and services, significantly eroded the party’s support base.

According to him, while the NPP achieved several successes, its failure to address critical bread-and-butter issues made it difficult to secure re-election.

Mr. Kodua further highlighted that governance lapses in some sectors created widespread dissatisfaction among the electorate.

“Some areas of governance did not meet the expectations of our people, and unfortunately, we paid the price at the polls,” he noted.

He added that the party must listen more closely to the concerns of Ghanaians and ensure that their needs are prioritised in the future.

The General Secretary urged party members to rally together and work towards implementing the recommendations of the recently completed internal review processes.

He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the NPP, stating, “We must learn from our mistakes, correct them, and move forward with unity and purpose.”

Why NPP lost 2024 elections: General Secretary opens up on Mike Oquaye report https://www.adomonline.com/why-npp-lost-2024-elections-general-secretary-opens-up-on-mike-oquaye-report/ Sun, 27 Apr 2025 13:26:04 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529176 The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has slightly lifted the lid on the much-anticipated report of the Mike Oquaye Committee, which investigated the reasons behind the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

Addressing NPP stakeholders at various meetings in the Western Region on the opening day of the party’s Thank You Tour, led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the General Secretary stated that details of the report would not be made public for “strategic reasons.”

However, he explained that in order to successfully implement the committee’s recommendations, it was important for party stakeholders to be made aware of certain aspects, particularly some of the reasons for the party’s defeat, as captured in the report.

Key among the reasons, Mr. Kodua noted, were the actions and inactions of the government regarding certain critical issues.

These included the government’s failure to prioritise key projects in the party’s strongholds, a poor relationship between the government and the party, the arrogance of power, and internal bickering, among others.

The audience, who had shared similar sentiments with the Prof. Oquaye Committee during its investigations, were in full agreement as the General Secretary outlined the factors identified.

Mr. Kodua stressed the need for the party to fully implement the committee’s recommendations.

He added that, as part of the process, a Constitutional Review Committee has been inaugurated, and he urged members of the party to submit their proposals to it.

He emphasized that a future NPP government would roll out strong job creation initiatives specifically targeting displaced workers affected by current economic challenges.

“I assure you that in the next NPP administration, you will be prioritized for jobs,” Dr. Bawumia pledged.

AFFA files RTI over ‘recruitment corruption’ at GIFEC https://www.adomonline.com/affa-files-rti-over-recruitment-corruption-at-gifec/ Fri, 25 Apr 2025 06:38:06 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2528564 A pro-governance and accountability group, Alliance For Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA), has slammed the CEO of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Rashid Tanko, for engaging in the illegal recruitment of staff.

In an RTI filed on Tuesday, AFFA demanded full disclosure on the status of vacancies advertised by GIFEC in the dailies last week—vacancies the group believes have been filled without adherence to proper procedures.

The vacant positions advertised included: Principal Manager, Administration; Principal Manager, Research; Principal Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E); Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs, among others. However, the group claims these positions have already been filled, even before the application deadline has passed, prompting their RTI request.

According to the group, fliers on social media show NDC supporters receiving and accepting congratulatory messages for their appointment to these positions, despite the deadline for applications being set for April 23, 2025.

“This advertisement by GIFEC is a charade. Take it from me, there are no vacancies as we speak. These positions have already been filled with NDC supporters following the arbitrary dismissal of employees whom the new CEO suspected were sympathetic to the opposition NPP,” said the Executive Secretary of AFFA.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a staff member at GIFEC corroborated AFFA’s assertions, raising serious questions about the legality of the recruitment process.

“GIFEC has 14 days to respond to the RTI. We will keep a close eye on this development,” the staff member said.

Ebi Bright has worked, but… – Tema Youth fumes over MCE nomination https://www.adomonline.com/ebi-bright-has-worked-but-tema-youth-fumes-over-mce-nomination/ Thu, 24 Apr 2025 08:51:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2528158 A member of the Concerned Citizens of Tema, Theodora Sarpong, has criticised the nomination of Ebi Bright as the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), describing it as shocking and disappointing.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Theodora expressed the frustration of many residents, particularly the youth, following the announcement on Wednesday, April 23.

“We were shocked when her name came up. Ebi Bright has worked for the party, yes, but she didn’t even pick forms, so how did her name end up on the list?” she questioned.

Ebi Bright, the 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for Tema Central on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was nominated in line with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended.

Her nomination is currently pending approval by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.

However, her selection has sparked protests in the municipality. Youth groups and some residents clad in red armbands gathered in front of the Assembly and marched through the area, chanting slogans and carrying placards to register their displeasure.

Theodora believes the appointment process ignored the proper consultative procedures.

“There were names we knew had gone through the process. The initial list we saw didn’t have Ebi Bright’s name. So when the final announcement came, we were confused,” she added.

TAM YOUTH ON EBI

She also raised concerns about representation and indigene participation in local governance.

“Most of the companies and institutions here are headed by non-indigenes. So we were hoping that this time, the MCE would be one of our own—someone who understands our needs and challenges,” she stated.

Asked whether they would still support Ebi Bright if her nomination is confirmed, Theodora said they would defer to the traditional authorities.

“We are waiting to hear from the Tema Traditional Council. They will speak to the youth and give us direction. Whatever they say, we will take it,” she said.

Theodora stressed that the youth are now resolute and watching the situation closely.

“The process should be transparent. The people must be involved. That’s how you build trust.”

Minority lauds IGP, Interior Minister for reshuffling police commanders at galamsey areas https://www.adomonline.com/minority-lauds-igp-interior-minister-for-reshuffling-police-commanders-at-galamsey-areas/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 20:27:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2528094 The Minority in Parliament has praised Inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yahonu, and Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, for taking bold steps to transfer all police commanders in galamsey-prone areas.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament believe the move will help combat the illegal mining menace that has plagued the country for decades.

Ranking member of the Defense and Interior Committee in Parliament, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, speaking in an interview with Nana Osei Amponfo Adjei on Adom FM’s 6PM News (commonly known as Naket News), said the Minority had proposed such an action to the Minister during his vetting, and they are pleased to see it implemented.

“Galamsey is destroying the country’s resources, and we all need to come together to find a solution to it, devoid of political affiliation. My team at the vetting proposed to the minister that he should consider transferring police commanders in galamsey areas, so we are happy he has done that,” Fordjour said.

The Assin South Member of Parliament added that if all ministers would take advice, regardless of who is giving it, they would receive the support of the Minority.

“You see, this Interior Minister will be one of the best ministers because he is open to advice, and when he thinks something is fit, he implements it. That is what we expect from other ministers. So far, he is doing well, and we are happy with him,” Mr. Fordjour stated.

Low voter turnout was a protest vote – Dr Asah-Asante counters NPP narrative on 2024 election defeat https://www.adomonline.com/low-voter-turnout-was-a-protest-vote-dr-asah-asante-counters-npp-narrative-on-2024-election-defeat/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 17:42:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2527990 Political scientist Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante has challenged the narrative offered by the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, regarding the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

In an interview on JoyNews‘ The Pulse on Wednesday, April 23, he argued that the low turnout among their supporters was a deliberate protest vote.

His remarks come in response to comments made by Dr. Bawumia during the launch of the NPP’s nationwide Thank You Tour, where he attributed the party’s loss to internal issues, particularly the failure of their supporters to show up at the polls.

Dr. Asah-Asante, however, believes the lack of voter participation should not be dismissed as mere disinterest but as a powerful political message from the party’s base.

“If they’ve gone to the field to pick data and introduce what their data is saying, fine. “But I hold a different view. In political science, when you expect 20 people to vote for you, and only 10 do, the remaining 10 have protested against you. It’s a protest vote.”

He explained that even though these supporters did not physically cast their ballots, their absence represented a form of indirect voting — a conscious decision to withhold support as a signal of dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership or direction.

“They knew very well that even if they had gone, the numbers would have increased — and yet they stayed away. That action, in itself, is a vote against you. It’s not that they didn’t vote; they voted with their absence,” Dr. Asah-Asante noted.

He urged the party to take a deeper introspective look at the reasons behind the loss, especially considering the dramatic reversal from the NPP’s significant electoral victory just four years earlier, with over a million-vote margin.

“Why is it that the same group of people did not want them to stay in power? That’s the real question they should be asking,” he stated.

Join me on the ‘Thank You Tour’ – Bawumia to NPP leaders https://www.adomonline.com/join-me-on-the-thank-you-tour-bawumia-to-npp-leaders/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 15:28:52 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2527982 The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended an open invitation to leaders and stalwarts in the NPP, including his former rivals from the party’s presidential primaries, to join him on a nationwide ‘Thank You Tour.’

This move, he said, is a symbolic gesture aimed at promoting unity within the party as it prepares for the crucial 2024 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia, who clinched the party’s flagbearer slot with approximately 61.43% of the vote, defeated prominent figures including Kennedy Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and ex-Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh.

At the launch of the tour on Wednesday, 23rd April 2025, at the NPP headquarters in Accra, he explained that the decision to involve his former contenders was a deliberate break from tradition.

“Because I want us to be united, that is why I am departing from the normal Thank You Tour,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“Normally, the presidential candidate just goes ahead to do the Thank You Tour. But I am doing it differently this time, and it is because I want unity.” He emphasized that unity would be key to strengthening the NPP’s chances in the general election.

Dr. Bawumia noted that showcasing solidarity through a joint tour would not only send a strong message of reconciliation but also bolster the morale of party supporters across the country.

“That is why I have said that I want to go with the party and also invite my former contestants in the primaries to come, and we will all go and do the Thank You Tour together… so that we all show a united front for the party, then we can build on it going forward,” he added.

He concluded by urging party members to shift focus from internal competition to the greater task of securing victory in the national polls.

“It is not time for primaries, and it is not about winning a primary. What we are doing is building a party machinery that can win the general election. If you win the primary and cannot win the general election, then it is a useless victory,” Dr. Bawumia asserted.

The nationwide tour is expected to cover all 16 regions, serving as a platform to thank delegates and rally momentum for the NPP’s campaign.

Bawumia commends Oquaye Committee for a comprehensive and insightful report https://www.adomonline.com/bawumia-commends-oquaye-committee-for-a-comprehensive-and-insightful-report/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 15:09:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2527958 Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has lauded the Oquaye Committee for what he described as a “comprehensive and insightful” report on the future direction of the party.

Speaking on Wednesday, 23rd April, at the NPP headquarters in Accra, Dr. Bawumia commended the committee for its diligence and strategic recommendations, which he believes will serve as a roadmap for party unity and electoral success.

“The work of the Oquaye Committee reflects not only deep intellectual rigor but also a firm understanding of our party’s values and the aspirations of the Ghanaian people,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

He noted that the committee’s report captures key lessons from past electoral cycles, offers innovative ideas for party organization, and prioritizes inclusiveness and grassroots engagement.

According to him, the NPP stands at a critical crossroads, and the committee’s findings could not have come at a better time.

The Oquaye Committee, chaired by former Speaker of Parliament Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, was tasked with reviewing internal party structures and making strategic recommendations for the NPP’s long-term strength.

Dr. Bawumia affirmed that several of the committee’s proposals would be factored into the upcoming ‘Thank You Tour’, which aims to consolidate party support nationwide and engage directly with the electorate.

“We must listen more, act better, and remain united as we prepare for the 2024 general elections,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia also urged party faithful to study the report and align their activities with its recommendations.

“This is not just a report for leadership; it is a document for every member of the NPP family. Let us embrace it, implement it, and march together toward victory in December,” he remarked.

He hinted that parts of the report would be integrated into the NPP’s 2024 manifesto to “bring its ideas to life.”

Speaking at the NPP’s national headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, 23rd April, ahead of the party’s nationwide Thank You Tour, Dr. Bawumia noted that the report debunks the propaganda and misinformation that had sought to lay undue blame on certain individuals and factions within the party.

“The Mike Oquaye Committee’s work has been thorough, impartial, and backed by facts,” Dr. Bawumia asserted. “It has put to bed all the propaganda and mischief that followed our electoral defeat. The truth is now clear to every committed party member and Ghanaian who seeks to understand what truly happened.”

The committee, chaired by former Speaker of Parliament Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, was tasked with conducting a post-election review following the NPP’s loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 2024 elections.

Dr. Bawumia urged party members to rally behind the recommendations of the report, stressing the need for unity and reform as the party prepares for the future.

CJ’s suspension – Sammi Awuku calls out government; describes act as threat to judiciary https://www.adomonline.com/cjs-suspension-sammi-awuku-calls-out-government-describes-act-as-threat-to-judiciary/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 11:20:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2527725 Member of Parliament for Akuapim North, Sammi Awuku, has voiced strong opposition to the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, warning that the move poses a serious threat to the independence of the judiciary.

His reaction follows President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to suspend Justice Torkornoo after a prima facie case was established from three separate petitions seeking her removal from office.

Taking to Facebook, Awuku described the suspension as a deeply troubling development in Ghana’s democratic journey, raising fears that it may be an attempt to intimidate the judiciary and undermine its autonomy.

“This moment marks a concerning chapter in Ghana’s democratic journey,” Awuku wrote, cautioning that the implications of the suspension go beyond the individual involved.

He went on to criticize the President’s decision as a dangerous display of unchecked executive power, warning that such actions risk weakening the country’s judicial system.

“History reminds us that absolute power can erode the very foundations of justice,” he stated.

Awuku’s comments add to growing public debate over the implications of the Chief Justice’s suspension, with legal and political observers closely watching how the situation unfolds.

Galamsey: NDC never supported calls for a State of Emergency – Sammy Gyamfi [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/galamsey-ndc-never-supported-calls-for-a-state-of-emergency-sammy-gyamfi-video/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 07:06:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2527671 Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has refuted claims that he supported calls by civil society organizations (CSOs) for a state of emergency to be declared in areas affected by illegal mining during the Akufo-Addo administration.

According to him, the NDC, as a corporate body, never supported the calls for a state of emergency.

“Go and check me. I spoke on it even on Good Morning Ghana. I said I disagreed with them—that the problem was not to declare any state of emergency.

“What we had to do was to declare a state of emergency on Akufo-Addo and his gang and vote them out because they were the ones supervising the illegal mining menace,” he stated.

Mr. Gyamfi, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Gold Board (Goldbod), disclosed this in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, while acknowledging that some individuals within the party had supported the calls.

“It was in 2017/18 when the NPP banned mining that we exported more gold, and such a feat has not been attained since then. The ban was a façade, and so I didn’t support calls for a state of emergency because they would have hidden behind it and taken people’s concessions,” he added.

Sammy Gyamfi’s clarification comes amid growing calls for President John Mahama to declare a state of emergency, as illegal mining activities continue to worsen.

There has been pressure on the President to follow through on his earlier promises to declare a state of emergency.

Meanwhile, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has affirmed the government’s commitment to addressing illegal mining activities.

He stated that the government is exploring all possible measures, including declaring a state of emergency and temporarily banning small-scale mining, to clamp down on the menace.

Mahama could have been impeached if… – Sammy Gyamfi on suspension of CJ [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/mahama-could-have-been-impeached-if-sammy-gyamfi-on-suspension-of-cj-video/ Tue, 22 Apr 2025 17:22:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2527612 Acting Managing Director of Goldbod, Sammy Gyamfi, has stated that if President John Dramani Mahama had not suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, he could have faced impeachment.

Mr. Gyamfi explained that the decision was in accordance with the Constitution, stressing that President Mahama is a leader who holds no personal bitterness.

“President Mahama is a man without bitterness. He doesn’t hold grudges against anyone, including Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo. The decision was not driven by personal issues,” he said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show.

According to Mr. Gyamfi, the President’s actions align with the constitutional requirements outlined in Article 146, which governs the suspension of a sitting Chief Justice.

He clarified that Mahama did not act alone but sought advice from the Council of State, leading to the formation of a committee to assess the matter before taking any steps.

“Mahama is not acting out of vindictiveness. He is simply following the Constitution. As President, he swore an oath to protect the Constitution of Ghana. He cannot arbitrarily sack the Chief Justice; he must follow the procedures outlined in the law,” he added.

The National Communications Officer for the NDC also mentioned that this situation is not unprecedented, pointing out that former President Akufo-Addo had faced multiple petitions for the removal of a Chief Justice, some of which were ignored, including.

“We have precedents that define how these matters should be handled,” he added.

The Acting Managing Director stated that Mahama’s primary focus is the welfare of the people and the integrity of the Constitution, rather than any personal vendetta.

The suspension, announced on April 22, follows the establishment of a committee to investigate multiple petitions filed against the top judicial official.

The move complied with constitutional provisions and followed consultations with the Council of State.

Hold presidential primaries first before any other elections in the party – Kwabena Agyapong to NPP https://www.adomonline.com/hold-presidential-primaries-first-before-any-other-elections-in-the-party-kwabena-agyapong-to-npp/ Tue, 22 Apr 2025 10:21:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2527371 Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former presidential candidate and senior advisor to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the 2024 campaign, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritise its presidential primaries ahead of all other internal elections.

In a memorandum dated April 17, 2025, addressed to the NPP’s Constitution Amendment Committee chaired by Frank Davies, Mr. Agyepong proposed a number of constitutional reforms aimed at promoting internal cohesion and fairness.

Mr. Agyepong advocated for the scrapping of Article 13(9) of the party’s constitution, which mandates the use of a special electoral college to reduce the number of presidential aspirants to five.

He argued that the existing process is undemocratic and vulnerable to manipulation, stating, “The current structure of this special college—comprising fewer than one thousand (1,000) members—is susceptible to manipulation and undermines democratic fairness.”

To foster broader consultation in party decision-making, he also proposed the creation of constituency caucuses in each of the 276 constituencies.

These caucuses would include Members of Parliament, District and Municipal Chief Executives, Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, Polling Station Executives, Patrons, and Elders.

According to Mr. Agyepong, this initiative represents “a limited enlargement of the electoral college, ensuring broader consultation and representation in key decision-making processes.”

In his proposals, Mr. Agyepong emphasised the need for a more logical electoral sequence, recommending that presidential primaries be held before any other internal elections.

“This approach aligns with Article 13(1) of the party’s current constitution and promotes a more logical and less contentious electoral timeline,” he noted.

His suggestions come as the NPP begins preparations for internal restructuring ahead of the 2028 general elections.

NPP facing existential threat – Inusah Fuseini https://www.adomonline.com/npp-facing-existential-threat-inusah-fuseini/ Sat, 19 Apr 2025 13:34:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526815 Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has cautioned that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is grappling with deep internal divisions that pose a serious existential threat to its future as a viable political force in Ghana.

The 12-member committee assigned to investigate the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections on Wednesday, April 16, presented findings of the probe to the National leadership of the party.

At the event held at Alisa Hotel in Accra, Chairman of the committee, Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye and his team presented the official document to the party.

Speaking on JoyNews‘ Newsfile on Saturdy, April 19, Mr Fuseini pointed to deep divisions within the NPP, driven largely by conflicting views on the legacy of former President Akufo-Addo and the direction of the party post-2024.

“If you are going to go along that tangent, because your party is clearly facing an existential threat. There are those who think within your party Nana Akufo-Addo is largely responsible for the defeat of your party.”

“Nana Akufo-Addo’s group too think that the party cannot revive itself, if it doesn’t ride on his legacy. So, you have these two to contend with – it’s just like confession and avoidance. Admit that you did something wrong so that you can rebuild your party.” he said.

The rift, according to Mr Fuseini, lies between factions who hold the former President Nana Akufo-Addo, accountable for the party’s recent electoral losses, and loyalists who insist that any political revival must be rooted in protecting and continuing his legacy.

Describing the situation as one of “confession and avoidance”, Mr Fuseini urged the party to come to terms with its recent failures and face hard truths if it hopes to recover credibility and public trust.

“Admit that you did something wrong so that you can rebuild your party,” he advised.

Afenyo-Markin’s call to safeguard CJ’s office was a good one – Frank Davies https://www.adomonline.com/afenyo-markins-call-to-safeguard-cjs-office-was-a-good-one-frank-davies/ Sat, 19 Apr 2025 12:48:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526794 Chairman of the Constitutional and Legal Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Frank Davies, has defended comments made by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who recently urged judges and the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) to resist any attempts to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, describing the call as a “good one.”

This follows Afenyo-Markin’s appeal for Ghana’s judges to stand united and push back against what he described as politically motivated efforts to oust the Chief Justice from office.

The Efutu MP also warned that recent developments suggest an attempt by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to politicise the judiciary.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, April 19, Mr. Davies stressed that Afenyo-Markin’s remarks were not partisan but rather a patriotic call aimed at preserving the integrity of the judiciary.

“Let us put the issues in context. If you listen carefully to Afenyo-Markin, he was making a national appeal that we should safeguard the Office of the Chief Justice,” Davies explained.

“You might not like Afenyo-Markin for other reasons,” he added, “but on this occasion, I don’t think he said anything untoward. That was the right platform for him to speak, especially as it was during an official NPP event.”

Mr. Davies also dismissed claims by former Tamale Central MP, Inusah Fuseini, who had accused the NPP of politicising the matter. According to Davies, such criticism was misplaced and lacked context.

“He’s saying that we [NPP] have politicised the issue. I totally disagree with him. The loud noises started coming from NDC political actors. Even before this Chief Justice removal process officially began, it was already being speculated all over that there was an agenda to remove the Chief Justice,” Davies argued.

He therefore called on all stakeholders to protect the office of the Chief Justice and avoid politicising the matter, especially at a time when judicial independence must be jealously guarded.

CJ’s removal Poll: Support tied to low trust, corruption perception – Mussa Dankwa https://www.adomonline.com/cjs-removal-poll-support-tied-to-low-trust-corruption-perception-mussa-dankwa/ Sat, 19 Apr 2025 12:46:45 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526786 Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwa, believes that the strong public backing for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo stems from deep-rooted distrust in the judiciary and widespread perceptions of corruption.

His remarks come in response to a recent Global InfoAnalytics survey, which revealed that 52% of Ghanaians support the Chief Justice’s removal, while only 20% oppose it. An additional 18% remained neutral, and 10% expressed no opinion.

Speaking on Channel One TV on Saturday, April 19, 2025, Dankwa explained that the poll results reflect a consistent trend of public dissatisfaction with the judiciary.

“I prefer to rely on data rather than personal opinions. In 2023, almost 60% of voters expressed low confidence in the Supreme Court, according to our polls. This lack of trust isn’t new—it was also evident in 2020,” he noted.

He further pointed out that the judiciary’s image has worsened over time, citing recent findings.

“Our latest survey shows that the Supreme Court is now viewed as the third most corrupt public institution in Ghana. When you connect these dots—low confidence from voters and high corruption perception—it’s easy to understand why many believe any effort to remove the Chief Justice might be justified,” Dankwa added.

Speaking on Newsfile on JoyNews, Mrs Ofori-Boadu reflected on Ghana’s democratic evolution, emphasising that the country’s current system is not merely constitutional, but one that embodies the ideals of constitutional liberal democracy — a system rooted in the protection of human rights and civil liberties.

“I will say we are jumping the gun, because Ghana – we are now in a constitutional liberal democracy. In fact, if I just say ‘constitutional’, I am limiting it, because there once was a time that we had the one-time democracy. But now we have the constitutional liberal democracy, which is broadening on the principles of human rights – the rights to be heard, the right to freedom and all that. We have all these freedoms enshrined in our Constitution.”

She highlighted the importance of constitutionalism, noting that the freedoms currently enjoyed by Ghanaians including the right to speak, to assemble, and to be heard are not incidental, but are legally protected and must be fiercely safeguarded.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Mr. Fuseini clarified that his remarks were made off the cuff during a discussion that was not initially centered on the Bawku crisis, stressing that his statements were never intended to provoke anger or disrespect.

He explained that his comments were aimed at promoting peace and not at endorsing any faction involved in the conflict. However, he acknowledged that his words were interpreted as an affront to the authority of the Nayiri and the Mamprugu Kingdom.

“It was unfortunate that my views, though honestly expressed, appeared to align with the Kusasi position. That was never my aim. I am Dagomba, but suddenly I was being labelled as Kusasi simply for suggesting a possible approach to peace,” he said.

Mr. Fuseini further noted that upon reflection, he understood the concerns raised by the Mamprusi people.

“My comments were not meant to disrupt the existing order or to undermine any traditional authority. I was simply pursuing what I believed could contribute to justice and peace in Bawku,” he added.

Using the Newsfile platform, Mr. Fuseini extended a heartfelt apology: “With the greatest respect, I render an unqualified apology to the youth of Mamprugu, the Nayiri, and his Council of Chiefs. It was never my intention to hurt anyone.

“On this Holy Saturday, I pray that my apology will be accepted by all those I have offended — my brothers in Mamprugu, the youth, and the traditional authorities.”

It’s wrong for NPP to assume fight to protect CJ – Inusah Fuseini https://www.adomonline.com/its-wrong-for-npp-to-assume-fight-to-protect-cj-inusah-fuseini/ Sat, 19 Apr 2025 11:16:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526752 Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he describes as the politicisation of ongoing legal issues surrounding the potential removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

Speaking on Newsfile on JoyNews, the former NDC MP asserted that the NPP’s active defence of the Chief Justice creates a perception that she is politically aligned with the ruling party, which could erode public confidence in the judiciary’s independence.

“It is totally wrong for a political party to assume the fight to protect the Chief Justice,” he said, expressing concern that the NPP’s involvement could undermine the integrity of the judiciary and politicise what should be a constitutional and impartial process.

Mr Fuseini argued that while it is not inappropriate to initiate processes to remove a Chief Justice in cases of alleged misconduct, the role of political parties in such matters should be restrained.

He recalled that there had been a similar petition against Justice Torkornoo in 2024 and stressed that calls for scrutiny of her office should not be dismissed outright.

“What the NPP is doing currently is implanting in the minds of people that the current Chief Justice is sympathetic to the NPP,” he said.

“They are doing Madam a disservice, and I simply do not understand why the NPP is so jumpy.”

He further criticised the party for using its legal surrogates to challenge the President’s constitutional obligations in court, noting that all those filing lawsuits to block presidential action on the matter are affiliated with the NPP.

“It is even becoming increasingly difficult to talk about the Chief Justice because she is the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana,” he stated.

“If the NPP doesn’t know that they are creating the problem, I am telling them they are creating the problem.”

Ahiagbah accuses Mahama of undermining democracy over Chief Justice removal petition https://www.adomonline.com/ahiagbah-accuses-mahama-of-undermining-democracy-over-chief-justice-removal-petition/ Sat, 19 Apr 2025 10:51:06 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526741 Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, accusing him of endangering Ghana’s democratic foundations over efforts to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo from office.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, April 19, Ahiagbah questioned both the motive and democratic implications of the former president’s actions, describing the move as unjustifiable.

“I think this president is taking an intended or unintended aim at the core of our democracy. This whole business of trying to remove the Chief Justice cannot be apologised for, and nobody can convince me that it makes any democratic sense, in terms of the practice and the furtherance of democracy in our country,” Ahiagbah stated.

“Removing the Chief Justice does not make any rational sense. On that account, I will say that his administration has performed poorly on that score. What brought them into power is the democracy, and if they are aiming to affect that, for me, it cannot be excused,” he added.

His remarks come as the controversy surrounding the petition for the Chief Justice’s removal continues to draw political and legal scrutiny.

The petition, which President Mahama formally referred to the Council of State in line with constitutional procedure, triggered a swift response from Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, who requested access to the contents of the petition to prepare her defence.

President Mahama, in response, granted the Chief Justice a 10-day window to submit her written explanation.

Sources have confirmed that Chief Justice Torkornoo met the deadline, submitting her response ahead of April 7, 2025, to both the President and the Council of State.

The Council of State is now expected to evaluate the petition and determine whether the case merits further action.

NPP’s Frank Davies urges caution, due process in Chief Justice removal debate https://www.adomonline.com/npps-frank-davies-urges-caution-due-process-in-chief-justice-removal-debate/ Sat, 19 Apr 2025 10:39:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526733 The Director of Legal Affairs for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Frank Davies, has expressed deep concern over what he describes as the politicization of ongoing processes related to the potential removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

Speaking on Newsfile on JoyNews, Mr. Davies cautioned that while Ghana’s constitution makes provisions for the removal of a Chief Justice, the manner in which the issue is being handled risks undermining the country’s legal framework and democratic stability.

According to him, it is not the idea of removing a Chief Justice that is inherently problematic, but rather how the process is approached and presented to the public.

“It’s not the removal, per se, of a Chief Justice which is the problem,” he said.
“It is a constitutional structure where it is founded. So, if that is being exercised by citizens of this country, and there’s a valid basis for the removal of a Chief Justice, it should not be too much.”

However, Mr. Davies pointed to what he sees as an emerging trend of political interference, stressing that the issue has become overly “muddied” by partisan narratives.

“For me, the aberration is when the issues are so muddied and there’s a persistent refrain by people who should know better. That is where the worry is,” he emphasized.

He called for respect for the rule of law, urging all parties to allow due process to take its course rather than manipulate constitutional processes for political gain.

What exactly did Prof. Mike Oquaye do? — Nana Akomea questions blame over NPP’s electoral loss https://www.adomonline.com/what-exactly-did-prof-mike-oquaye-do-nana-akomea-questions-blame-over-npps-electoral-loss/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 17:30:55 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526511 Former Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, has questioned why some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are blaming Professor Mike Oquaye Snr for the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

His comments follow criticisms by the former Member of Parliament for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, along with other party members, on the composition of the committee established to investigate the NPP’s historic electoral loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The critics claim that Professor Oquaye’s leadership as chairman of the election committee, which supervised both the presidential and parliamentary primaries, contributed to the party’s poor performance — a performance they describe as the worst in the NPP’s electoral history, marked by the loss of significant parliamentary seats.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Nana Akomea wondered why the former Speaker of Parliament was being singled out.

“Have they explained how Oquaye contributed to the party’s defeat? What exactly did he do that makes them say he caused the NPP’s loss in the 2024 election?” he asked.

He added that most of the people criticising the committee were part of the campaign themselves, so he finds it strange that they are now shifting blame.

“Let’s not make this personal. Apart from Oquaye and one other person, all the people on that committee are names I don’t even know — they are not household party names,” Akomea noted.

He stressed that the committee was constituted by the party’s National Council, not by one individual.

“It’s not one person who formed the committee. Over 110 National Council members approved it. Now the committee has finished its work and presented the report, which reflects the views and concerns of the party. So why are they now complaining?”

According to him, anyone who had concerns about the committee or its members, including Prof. Oquaye, should have raised those issues during the process — not after the report’s release.

“If anyone had issues with Prof. Oquaye, they should have presented them to the committee while the process was ongoing, not now. To go out publicly and single out Professor Mike Oquaye is simply unfair,” he said.

AKOMEA ON OCQUAYE

Nana Akomea, who also served as Vice Chairman of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 campaign, urged party members to focus on the committee’s recommendations rather than personal grievances.

“They should stop personalising the matter. The report is ready, and the recommendations are the way forward for the party,” he stressed.

The 12-member committee, chaired by Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, officially presented its findings to the party’s national leadership on Wednesday, April 16, during a brief ceremony at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

Muster courage and go by dictates of report – Dr. Asah-Asante to NPP https://www.adomonline.com/muster-courage-and-go-by-dictates-of-report-dr-asah-asante-to-npp/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 16:06:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526447

Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to demonstrate bold leadership by fully embracing the recommendations in the report presented by its fact-finding committee on the party’s 2024 electoral defeat.

His comments follow the presentation of the report by the 12-member committee, which was tasked to investigate the party’s loss in the 2024 general elections. The committee submitted its findings to the NPP’s national leadership on Wednesday, April 16.

Speaking in an interview on Joy FM’s Top Story, Dr. Asah-Asante described the post-election review exercise as a necessary and commendable step. However, he emphasized that the true test lies in how the leadership responds to the findings.

“I think that what they have done is a good thing. Anytime a party goes into an election, it is important to examine what went wrong. You gather the facts, assess the findings, and begin to address the issues—whether at the national, regional, or constituency levels. Any lingering problems within the political structure of the party must also be tackled head-on,” he stated.

Dr. Asah-Asante further cautioned the NPP against tampering with or diluting the content of the report.

“They should muster the courage and go by the dictates of the report without adding or subtracting anything. If they do this, then they can be confident that they are on the right path,” he advised.

He warned that any attempt to short-change the process by ignoring parts of the report or sweeping critical issues under the carpet would be detrimental to the party’s future.

Apologise to the nation, NPP – Amoako Baah tells Akufo-Addo [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/apologise-to-the-nation-npp-amoako-baah-tells-akufo-addo-video/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 11:42:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526341 A former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, has called on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to apologise to Ghanaians for what he describes as his poor handling of the economy during his time in office.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Amoako Baah said the former president must admit he failed the country and offer an unqualified apology.

“When Nana Addo was about to become president, he knew the country wasn’t like this. But look at the mess he created. He destroyed the economy, and the right thing for him to do now is to apologise to the people of Ghana,” he stated.

The political scientist stressed that he has made this point before and stands firmly by it.

According to him, Nana Addo’s leadership left the nation worse off and Ghanaians deserve an acknowledgment of this failure.

“I have said it before, and I will repeat it — he must apologise to Ghanaians for the abysmal failure. He knows he didn’t perform well,” Dr. Amoako Baah added.

His comments come in the wake of growing criticism from a section of the public, who blame former President Akufo-Addo for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

A post-election survey conducted by Global Info Analytics revealed that 68% of respondents held Nana Addo responsible for the party’s heavy loss.

Many believe his administration’s poor economic decisions played a major role in the NPP’s electoral defeat.

I’ve endured enough – Former Akontombra PC Appiah-Kubi Baidoo resigns from NPP https://www.adomonline.com/ive-endured-enough-former-akontombra-pc-appiah-kubi-baidoo-resigns-from-npp/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 11:07:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526157 Former Parliamentary Candidate for Sefwi Akontombra, Appiah-Kubi Baidoo, has formally resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing what he described as years of unfair treatment by the party’s leadership.

In a letter addressed to the party chairman, Baidoo expressed deep disappointment over the way he and his immediate family had been treated.

According to him, repeated appeals to the party’s National Executive Committee for redress yielded no results.

“The frustrations I have endured over the years, along with my family, have become unbearable, and all efforts to seek redress have been ignored,” Baidoo noted in his resignation letter.

The District Chief Executive who also stood as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the Sefwi Akontombra Constituency on three occasions, extended his gratitude to the party for the opportunities offered him throughout his political journey.

Baidoo also offered an apology to his supporters and sympathizers who might feel disappointed by his decision, stating that the move was necessary given the circumstances.

“I sincerely apologize to all my cherished supporters and sympathizers for any inconvenience my decision might cause. It is a difficult but necessary step,” he said.

His resignation adds to growing concerns about internal tensions and unresolved grievances within the party.

I’m not alone, more NPP bigwigs are breaking away – Amoako Baah [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/im-not-alone-more-npp-bigwigs-are-breaking-away-amoako-baah-listen/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 09:53:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526260 Political Scientist Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has reaffirmed that his resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is still in effect, adding that he is not the only one parting ways with the party.

According to him, several leading members are also breaking away to join his new political movement, which he has named the New Patriotic Front.

“It’s not just me. There are many bigwigs behind this move. Even if someone comes to beg me to stop forming the party, I can’t, because the breakaway is much bigger than just one person,” Dr. Amoako Baah stated in an interview on Adom FMs morning show Dwaso Nsem.

He revealed that so far, 36 leading members of the NPP have pledged their support and are gearing up to officially join the New Patriotic Front.

Dr. Amoako Baah also disclosed that some NPP members living abroad, particularly in the United States, have contacted him to announce their decision to leave the party.

“Even those outside the country have called me and told me they are leaving. I cannot lie — people are tired,” he stressed.

He expressed disappointment over what he describes as the party’s refusal to listen to genuine concerns from its members.

“The truth is, even when you speak, the party won’t listen. A few people are just doing what they like,” he lamented.

AMOAKO BAAH ON NEW PARTY

The political scientist believes that this internal disconnect and poor leadership contributed to the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election.

“Even after losing the 2024 election, the same people still want to control the party. That is why I’ve decided to leave — I can’t even freely express my mind anymore,” he added.

Dr. Amoako Baah officially announced his resignation from the NPP, citing deep frustrations over the leadership’s failure to connect with grassroots supporters and its inability to accept internal criticism.

The event was attended by several party bigwigs, including former President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, General Secretary Justin Kodua, and other senior members.

The committee was tasked with identifying the factors that led to the party’s defeat and proposing measures to prevent a recurrence in future elections.

Following the presentation, Prof. Mike Oquaye declined to offer any comments on the contents of the document.

Sack Kumasi Mayor now – Akosua Manu to Mahama https://www.adomonline.com/sack-kumasi-mayor-now-akosua-manu-to-mahama/ Wed, 16 Apr 2025 13:54:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526042 Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Adentan, Akosua Manu, has strongly condemned Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi over his recent comments threatening physical confrontations against traders operating on pavements.

Speaking during a discussion on Channel One TV, Mrs. Manu described the Mayor’s remarks as reckless and a recipe for chaos and lawlessness, calling for his immediate removal from office.

“What I do not understand is that someone entrusted with leadership can stand before people and threaten physical assault as a means of enforcement. And I was even more shocked to learn that when he was contacted, he reiterated that same position,” she said.

Mrs. Manu argued that the Mayor’s endorsement of violence should not only earn him a formal reprimand but should also cost him his position, as it undermines the values of democratic governance.

“He should have been the shortest-serving appointee in this government. Upon hearing that he had repeated physical assault as a likely punishment to deter hawkers, the President should have called the Chief of Staff to remove him from office. In no way should such conduct be tolerated in our governance system,” she stressed.

She further maintained that a government committed to the rule of law and nonviolence cannot entertain such rhetoric from its appointees.

“For reiterating that point, I am saying by now if it was Nana Akufo-Addo’s government, the KMA Mayor would have been withdrawn, and a new person appointed. There is no justification for making such statements,” she added.

Mrs. Manu also warned that allowing the Mayor’s comments to go unchecked could set a dangerous precedent, encouraging other municipal authorities to adopt similar approaches, potentially leading to widespread disorder.

“He is creating an avenue for chaos. If this becomes the template — the Kumasi Mayor does it, then the Accra Mayor follows, and Tamale too — the whole system breaks down. If his task force will do the work, it has to be in a very civil and humane way. Nobody should be beaten,” she cautioned.

Stop politicising Ghana’s economic gains – Oppong Nkrumah tells govt https://www.adomonline.com/stop-politicising-ghanas-economic-gains-oppong-nkrumah-tells-govt/ Wed, 16 Apr 2025 09:14:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2525846

Ranking Member of the Economy and Development Committee and Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has urged the government to prioritize the consolidation of gains made in Ghana’s economy rather than sacrificing them for political expediency.

He stressed the need to safeguard these advancements, cautioning against actions that could undermine the country’s economic stability.

His remarks come in response to the minority’s claim that the recently concluded staff-level agreement between the government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) vindicates the economic foundation laid by the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

This debate arises amid the current administration’s accusation that the NPP government breached IMF program conditions and mismanaged the economy prior to leaving office.

In an interview with Citi FM, Oppong Nkrumah emphasized the importance of policy continuity and responsible governance.

“What they have to do as a government is to try to build on it and not at every turn and at every corner seek to find ways of undermining the progress that the Ghanaian economy has made,” he said.

He also accused the current administration of deliberately discrediting economic data for political advantage, noting that the IMF’s assessment has exposed those efforts.

“It was their attempt to try to undermine the economic data so that they could score political points that have now been exposed by the fund,” he noted.

Oppong Nkrumah further expressed optimism about Ghana’s economic trajectory and called for bipartisan cooperation in safeguarding the country’s economic progress.

“We are happy when Ghana makes progress between NPP and NDC,” he added, stressing that the IMF’s findings affirm that the country is still on a steady path.

‘Presidency is not a throne of privilege’ – CDM tells Mahama https://www.adomonline.com/presidency-is-not-a-throne-of-privilege-cdm-tells-mahama/ Tue, 15 Apr 2025 06:48:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2525333 The Centre for Democratic Movement (CDM) has delivered a sobering assessment of President John Dramani Mahama’s first 100 days in office, warning that the country stands at a “crucial crossroads” between democratic renewal and political relapse.

In a statement, the governance watchdog assigned the Mahama administration a performance score of just 4 out of 10, arguing that “much more is expected than has been delivered.”

The CDM’s statement was both urgent and unflinching, urging the President to set aside comfort and face Ghana’s mounting challenges with decisive leadership.

“The presidency, in any democratic society, is not a throne of privilege but a platform of responsibility,” the statement read.
“It is not enough for a leader to avoid conflict or maintain decorum; leadership must be felt through action, tested through adversity, and proven through transformation.”

While the group acknowledged that President Mahama’s early days in office were marked by political calm — citing his “calm demeanor, initial outreach, and respect for institutional continuity” — it said these positive optics had been overshadowed by persistent national challenges, including “political victimisation, erratic power supply, fiscal profligacy, and creeping executive overreach.”

The CDM painted a grim portrait of Ghana’s broader landscape, listing deepening inequality, environmental degradation, threats to judicial independence, economic vulnerability, and public sector dysfunction as critical concerns.

“Ghana’s challenges cannot be solved through rhetoric, symbolism, or partisan maneuvering,” the group stressed.

Beyond its critique, the CDM offered a roadmap for action, calling on Mahama to rise to the moment and become the “transformational leader that this critical juncture demands.”

Among its key demands were:

  • Curtailing political retribution and upholding the sanctity of the civil service.

  • Safeguarding judicial independence by resisting attempts to manipulate constitutional checks.

  • Rescuing Ghana from fiscal recklessness through prudent, pro-poor budgeting.

  • Combating corruption and illegal mining with decisive, transparent action.

  • Ensuring energy security through innovation, investment, and integrity — rather than privatization.

  • Restoring public confidence in security agencies through lawful, accountable, and humane operations.

“These are not just political ideals,” the statement emphasized. “They are democratic imperatives.”

The CDM cautioned that the President’s honeymoon period had officially ended and warned that the window for excuses was closing fast.

“History is watching. The people are watching. The world is watching. And as the clock ticks beyond the 100-day mark, the demand for action grows louder.”

The statement concluded with a challenge to President Mahama to break from the status quo and chart a new course for the nation.

“Let President Mahama demonstrate that this term will not be a repeat of the past, but a courageous break from it. Let him lead not as a caretaker of partisan ambition, but as a custodian of national destiny.”

I was mentally prepared for intense vetting – Sam George https://www.adomonline.com/i-was-mentally-prepared-for-intense-vetting-sam-george/ Tue, 15 Apr 2025 06:17:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2525323 Minister of Communications, Digital, Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has disclosed that he was mentally prepared for the intense scrutiny he faced during his recent vetting before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.

The Minister, who spent over five hours before the committee, revealed that many of the questions directed at him focused more on his past controversial political remarks rather than his qualifications and vision for the new role.

The questioning was largely led by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, Sam George said he was not surprised by the nature of the vetting, as he anticipated that the Minority would adopt such a strategy.

“I didn’t take offence, I was prepared for it. I knew what to expect, I knew that I was one of the people the Minority was going to try to make a case with. Mentally, I was prepared for it. I think it was the first spot,” he stated.

Sam George also expressed confidence in his performance, stating that he believes he represented himself with honesty and integrity throughout the process.

Sam George criticizes Appointments Committee for ‘losing focus’ during vetting https://www.adomonline.com/sam-george-criticizes-appointments-committee-for-losing-focus-during-vetting/ Tue, 15 Apr 2025 06:08:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2525320 The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has raised concerns over what he described as an unfocused line of questioning during his recent appearance before Parliament’s Appointments Committee.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV, the Minister expressed disappointment that much of the over five-hour vetting session was spent addressing his past political commentary rather than his qualifications and vision for the communications and digital technology sector.

According to Sam George, a significant portion of the questioning, led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, strayed from matters relevant to his new ministerial portfolio.

“A man must stand by what he believes in. And when people see the Appointments Committee as a platform to settle scores, to basically exact vengeance, it’s unfortunate. I thought Afenyo-Markin or any other person could have asked a number of questions related to the sector,” he said.

The Minister further lamented that the committee had missed a valuable opportunity to explore his plans and technical expertise for the industry.

“Not my opinion on the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkonoo, or the former president [Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo]. I honestly thought that a golden opportunity was lost at the vetting to dive deep into the sector. I thought that the committee lost its focus in that regard,” he added.

Sam George, who previously served as the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, has long been vocal on national issues, but he emphasized that the vetting should have concentrated on his ability to lead and transform Ghana’s digital and communication landscape.

Tema Central NDC executives call for calm and unity over MCE nomination https://www.adomonline.com/tema-central-ndc-executives-call-for-calm-and-unity-over-mce-nomination/ Mon, 14 Apr 2025 12:21:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2525067

The Tema Central branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on residents and political stakeholders to remain calm and united as discussions continue over the appointment of a new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema Metro.

In a statement released on Sunday, April 13, by the Constituency Executive Committee and led by Chairman Benjamin Djakumah, who also serves as the Chairman of all NDC Chairmen across Tema East, Central, and West, the party emphasized the need for calm and respect for due process.

“At this critical time in our democratic journey, we call on all political party members, supporters, and the good people of Tema to remain calm, united, and respectful of due process,” the release said.

The group stressed that the appointment of a Municipal Chief Executive is a constitutional responsibility of the President and urged the public to avoid actions or statements that could create division or unrest in the community.

“We trust in the wisdom and leadership of the President to appoint a competent, visionary, and inclusive leader who will serve the people of Tema with integrity, fairness, and commitment to development.”

The NDC executives pledged their full support for whoever is nominated by President John Mahama, highlighting the importance of peace and progress above individual interests.

“We, the people of Tema Central, will support any nominee of the President in the interest of peace, unity, and progress,” they stated.

Many NPP members didn’t vote in 2024 due to ‘wrong candidate choice’ – Owusu Bempah claims https://www.adomonline.com/many-npp-members-didnt-vote-in-2024-due-to-wrong-candidate-choice-owusu-bempah-claims/ Mon, 14 Apr 2025 12:10:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2525063

The Deputy Communications Officer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu Bempah, has claimed that over two million members of the party chose not to vote in the 2024 general elections due to the selection of what he described as the wrong presidential candidate.

In an interview on Oyerepa TV, Mr. Owusu Bempah, who previously served as Communications Director for Ghana Gas during the Akufo-Addo administration, stated that the party’s decision to field then Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the candidate was a key factor in the disappointing voter turnout among NPP supporters.

He claimed that many NPP members felt disillusioned by the leadership’s choice, leading them to abstain from voting.

“For the first time, I met a taxi driver who is a member of NPP who told me that he voted for the NDC in the 2024 election, he showed me his party card, and the reason is that we didn’t take the right candidate for him to come and vote for,” he said.

Although he provided no scientific data to support his claim, Owusu Bempah asserted that as many as 2.1 million NPP members refrained from voting due to their disapproval of the presidential candidate.

“Go down there with a hidden camera and ask the ordinary people why they refused to vote. 2.1 million decided not to go and vote, 2.1 million, do you think it is a joke? NPP party base, supporters refused to vote, do you know what that means?” he argued.

He also criticized the party’s leadership for failing to listen to the views of its members during the candidate selection process, which he suggested contributed to the low turnout. “Let Prof Mike Oquaye’s Committee bring out their report, and that is where we will hear things,” he added.

Owusu Bempah’s comments come as the NPP looks to rebuild its support base following what many have viewed as a poor performance in the 2024 elections.

Party leaders are expected to review the election results and assess strategies for repositioning the party, with Prof. Mike Oquaye’s Committee tasked with studying the elections and providing recommendations.

Mahama is the President of Ghana, not a kid – Nana Yaa Jantuah on suspicious flights https://www.adomonline.com/mahama-is-the-president-of-ghana-not-a-kid-nana-yaa-jantuah-on-suspicious-flights/ Fri, 11 Apr 2025 12:09:45 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2524277 Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has responded to recent claims by Assin South MP, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour on two suspicious flights, stating that President John Dramani Mahama is not a child and is capable of handling national security matters appropriately.

Her comments follow President Mahama’s directive for the security agencies to probe Fordjour’s allegations that two aircraft—AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B—had entered the country carrying cocaine and large sums of U.S. currency.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Madam Jantuah said as the head of security in the country, Mahama had likely already conducted investigations before any public discussions on the matter.

She explained, “President Mahama is the head of security in this country, President Mahama is not a kid, he is the President of Ghana and so how do you think he hasn’t done any investigations even before the issue came out?”

She also defended President Mahama’s decision to instruct national security to liaise with other agencies, noting, “When he is the President, they want to treat him like a nobody and treat someone else like a king.”

Madam Jantuah further criticized opposition members who have called for a committee to investigate the issue, suggesting that if preliminary investigations had already concluded there was no merit to the claims, there was no need for further inquiries.

“There’s something called preliminary investigations, and if they’ve already done their investigations and realized there’s nothing to the claims from Ntim Fordjour, why form a committee like the minority is suggesting to the government?” she questioned.

NANA YAA ON MAHAMA NOT A KID

In her view, the opposition NPP was simply making noise without merit.

“The NPP are just behaving like women, complaining for no reason. Why are they running away?” she said.

Meanwhile, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and lacking merit.

But Madam Jantuah said Mr. Ofosu’s comments, stating that his assertion that the allegations lacked merit likely reflected the findings of the preliminary investigations.

“Felix saying the allegations lack merit means the preliminary investigations show that indeed the case lacks merit,” she concluded.

Nobody is being intimidated – Nana Yaa Jantuah on NIB’s failed attempt to arrest Ntim Fordjour https://www.adomonline.com/nobody-is-being-intimidated-nana-yaa-jantuah-on-nibs-failed-attempt-to-arrest-ntim-fordjour/ Fri, 11 Apr 2025 12:08:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2524270 Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has dismissed claims of intimidation following the attempted arrest of Assin South MP, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour.

On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) invaded and attempted to arrest Rev. Fordjour at his residence in Spintex.

The move came after Rev. Fordjour raised concerns about two suspicious flights that landed at Kotoka International Airport, suggesting they were connected to possible drug trafficking and money laundering.

A former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), who described Rev. Fordjour as a friend, criticized his actions, stating that what he did was wrong and inappropriate.

“Don’t use the media to talk about the image of your country. If you have concerns, you should trust the Speaker and bring the matter to them, especially when it is of national interest,” she said.

She also questioned Rev. Fordjour’s claims, asking, “Who would leave a plane with cocaine on it for five days? It doesn’t make sense.”

She further stated that if Rev. Fordjour had real evidence, he should have gone through proper channels, instead of taking the matter to the media.

“No one is intimidating anybody. He needs to stand firm and go through whatever comes his way. If he hasn’t done anything wrong, the truth will eventually come out” she said in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

NANA YAA ON NTIM ARREST

Madam Jantuah also expressed concern about the timing of these claims, wondering why such accusations of intimidation were not raised during previous governments.

“Who has actually done anything to someone, apart from Fordjour?” she asked.

She noted that Rev. Fordjour’s actions had serious implications.

“Now, even if you travel, you’ll be searched like you’ve done something wrong because he has tarnished the country’s image.”

We’re not against accountability, but… – Afenyo-Markin on Ntim Fordjour https://www.adomonline.com/were-not-against-accountability-but-afenyo-markin-on-ntim-fordjour/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 16:02:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523817 Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene and rein in certain elements within his government following the attempted arrest of Assin South MP, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, by operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

Speaking in an interview on Joy FM’s Midday News on Thursday, April 10, Afenyo-Markin expressed concern over what he described as intimidation tactics being used by some government officials against political opponents.

“The government has explained its side of the story. If you disagree with the proposal that there should be a bipartisan committee, if you disagree that there should be a commission of inquiry, so be it. You are a government, but you don’t, through your agents or officials, threaten the Member of Parliament and put him through such trauma. We don’t need it, and I will call on His Excellency the President to call these hawks in the government to order. We don’t need them,” he said.

He urged President Mahama to help end what he termed a “vicious political cycle” of targeting opponents, emphasizing that governance must focus on addressing the needs of the people rather than persecuting political rivals.
