According to Mr. Ananse, he was not present when the incident occurred but was promptly informed of the events.

“When it happened on Friday, I was not around, but I was told what transpired,” he said.

The Assemblyman explained that the deceased was initially taken to Jacobu Hospital by ambulance, while the injured were transported to a different facility.

“When we went to Dominase SDA Hospital, we were told that the injured person had been transferred by the family to another hospital. We have no idea exactly where they are,” he added.

Mr. Ananse in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, also said both families of the deceased and the injured have contacted him and are now on their way to Dominase to meet and decide on the next steps.

“Both families have called and said they are on their way to Dominase. We will meet them and see how best to move forward,” he noted.

Police reports indicate that the incident began while officers were on routine patrol and had recovered a pump-action gun from a 15-year-old boy.

The officers instructed the minor to inform the weapon’s owner to report to the police station with the necessary documentation.

However, as the patrol team was returning, they were reportedly confronted by a crowd of about 100 people who blocked the road. Some members of the group were allegedly armed with cutlasses and firearms. The mob reportedly assaulted the officers and seized a service rifle.

Commenting on the attack, the Ashanti Regional Police Command condemned the assault on law enforcement officers. “We strongly caution the public against such attacks. All perpetrators involved will be pursued and brought to justice,” a police statement said.

The Assemblyman confirmed that the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the minor and will provide updates once the investigations are concluded.

Whether or not Daddy Lumba left a will – Abuasuapanyin breaks silence https://www.adomonline.com/whether-or-not-daddy-lumba-left-a-will-abuasuapanyin-breaks-silence/ Fri, 23 Jan 2026 16:45:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2623047 The family head of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has stated that the latter’s lawyers are best placed to discuss matters concerning his will and the distribution of his properties.

Victor Kofi Owusu explained that he is not responsible for managing the musician’s estate, insisting that such matters rest solely with the lawyers and the immediate family.

His comments come amid reports that the High Court in Accra has confirmed that no will has been deposited by Daddy Lumba at the Probate and Administration Division.

An official registry search, reportedly conducted as part of the legal process to manage the celebrated musician’s estate, found no record of a last will. In a response dated January 19, 2026, at 2:37 p.m., the court stated that no will filed by Charles Kwadwo Fosuh exists in its system.

However, speaking on Adom FM’s midday news Kasiebo is Tasty, the family head, widely known as Abuasuapanyin TuPac, said he has not received any court documents concerning the late musician’s properties and has not been contacted about any process to begin sharing them.

“No court documents have been brought to my attention, neither have I received any. Daddy Lumba’s body belongs to the family, but when it comes to the sharing of his properties, that has to do with the lawyers,” he stated.

According to him, the family’s priority was to give the musician a dignified burial, and that responsibility has now been fulfilled.

“All the things he asked us to do for him, including covering his face with a veil, we did them. The children can testify, and even his lawyers can confirm,” he said.

Abuasuapanyin TuPac explained that discussions about inheritance can only happen after all relevant parties come together, including Daddy Lumba’s children and spouse, but that process has not yet started.

“Since the funeral is over, what is left is for all of us, including the children, to meet before the properties are shared. But how do I get everyone together? You all know the first wife did not attend the funeral,” he added.

He stressed that he is not responsible for inviting anyone for estate discussions and that the sharing of property is not his role.

“I am not the one to share his properties. That is the work of the lawyers. Nobody has called me about sharing anything, and I don’t even know whether they will call me when they are ready,” he said.

Touching on speculation about a will, the family head said he could not confirm whether Daddy Lumba left one behind.

“I cannot say he left a will or not. What I know is that I have no hand in the sharing of his properties. I have already made provision for my wife and children, so Lumba’s wife and children must also come together and do the needful,” he noted.

For now, Abuasuapanyin TuPac says his only concern was ensuring peace and a proper burial for the music icon, which he has achieved.

“I have always wanted peace, and my priority was to bury my nephew. I have done that,” he said.

External threats may arise, police must be prepared – Nana B on January 31 primaries https://www.adomonline.com/external-threats-may-arise-police-must-be-prepared-nana-b-on-january-31-primaries/ Fri, 23 Jan 2026 10:01:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2622771 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has assured party supporters that adequate security measures will be in place during the presidential primaries scheduled for January 31.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Nana B said the decision to arm police officers at polling stations is to protect against potential threats, which may not necessarily originate from within the party.

“It’s not a bad idea. You don’t know the external threats that may come, and they may not even come from the NPP. A lot of delegates are going to the polls, and the police have to be prepared,” he said.

He explained that security personnel deployed near the voting centers will not carry rifles, while those stationed further away will be armed to safeguard the surroundings.

“Every polling station will have some men deployed. Not all of them will hold rifles, but security is very important and must be protected during elections,” Nana B added.

The NPP National Organiser urged party supporters to remain calm and respect the outcome of the elections.

“Support anyone who wins. I can assure you that no one can rig this election,” he said.

His comments come after the NPP announced that the Ghana Police Service would be armed during the primaries, following intelligence reports suggesting possible threats.

According to the Secretary of the NPP Election Committee, William Yamoah, the decision was made after videos and commentaries suggesting potential violence were intercepted.

NPP Race: Claims of intimidation are excuses for those sensing defeat – Oppong Nkrumah https://www.adomonline.com/npp-race-claims-of-intimidation-are-excuses-for-those-sensing-defeat-oppong-nkrumah/ Thu, 22 Jan 2026 14:01:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2622549 Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has dismissed claims of intimidation against the Bawumia Campaign ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, describing such allegations as excuses often used by those fearing defeat.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the MP said Ghana’s democratic space leaves no room for coercion in internal party elections, insisting that delegates are free to make their own choices.

“I laugh when people raise claims of intimidation. Who can intimidate someone in this age because of an election? Will you beat the person or what? What exactly will you do?” he asked.

He added that allegations of intimidation usually arise when aspirants sense they are losing ground.

“When people are losing an election, they make these claims and use it as an excuse for their defeat. There is no intimidation going on,” Oppong Nkrumah stated.

Using his constituency as an example, he said delegates would vote according to conscience rather than pressure.

“In my constituency, people will vote for Bawumia and some will vote for others. You can’t intimidate anybody and that is the essence of democracy,” he said.

The Ofoase-Ayirebi MP warned that careless political rhetoric could hurt the party and provide ammunition to the opposition.

“Because some people don’t like a certain candidate, they say all sorts of things and the opposition will use it as fodder against us. In 2024, the NDC used the statements of our people against us,” he noted.

He added that internal attacks on aspirants and the party only weaken the NPP’s chances.

“Some people attack an aspirant and the party to advance their course, but this doesn’t help anyone,” he said.

Oppong Nkrumah urged all camps to concentrate on selling their ideas to delegates instead of trading accusations.

“We must just focus on our campaign and market ourselves to the delegates so they can make their own informed decisions,” he concluded.

Only a coward refuses to accept defeat – Oppong Nkrumah defends Bawumia’s 2024 early concession [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/only-a-coward-refuses-to-accept-defeat-oppong-nkrumah-defends-bawumias-2024-early-concession-audio/ Thu, 22 Jan 2026 13:22:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2622505 The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has defended former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s decision to concede defeat in the 2024 general election, describing it as an act of courage, integrity and respect for Ghana’s democracy.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, the former Information Minister said the decision was not taken unilaterally by Dr. Bawumia but followed extensive consultations with the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“After our discussions, the party was of the view that we should concede. I can also tell you that Dr Bawumia believed it was the right thing to do,” he said.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah stressed that conceding defeat was a collective decision based on collated results available to the party and not a personal choice by the 2024 Presidential Candidate.

“The decision to concede was not Dr Bawumia’s sole decision,” he stated.

He criticised politicians who refuse to accept electoral defeat, describing such conduct as cowardly.

“It is only a coward who, after losing an election, has no courage to stand before supporters to say, ‘we went for the election and we didn’t win, but we live to fight another day,’ and instead claims they were cheated,” he said.

According to him, true leadership lies in honesty and accountability.

“The courageous person is the one who can stand in front of the world and accept that indeed they didn’t win and concede defeat,” he added.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah explained that once the party’s leadership had access to all the collated results on the morning after the election, it would have been irresponsible and a betrayal of trust to pretend ignorance or mislead supporters.

“It would have been irresponsible to keep quiet and lie to supporters when we knew exactly what the results said,” he noted.

Following the 2024 general election, Dr Bawumia’s decision to concede defeat to NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama attracted mixed reactions, with some members of the NPP describing the move as premature.

However, Mr Oppong Nkrumah dismissed such criticisms, insisting that Dr Bawumia’s actions demonstrated strength and statesmanship.

“Dr Bawumia will never do that, and that’s why he is formidable. It shows that if he becomes President, he will do right by all manner of persons,” he said.

He recounted how, after completing his own declaration at his constituency, he went straight to Dr Bawumia’s residence for a meeting, despite pressure from some quarters not to concede.

“I saw a very formidable leader, even when people were telling us not to concede. I had all the data,” he revealed.

He said the former Vice President’s decision was driven by a deep sense of responsibility to Ghana’s democracy, rather than personal or partisan interest.

“We have a responsibility to the democracy of this country. It wasn’t about his personal gain. That’s the kind of leader we need,” he stated.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah also cited Dr Bawumia’s principled stance during Cabinet discussions on the COVID-19 levy, noting that although he opposed it, he respected the collective decision of government.

“He raised objections based on principle, but Cabinet decided otherwise, and he respected that,” he said.

He urged critics to see Dr Bawumia’s concession as a mark of maturity and fidelity to democratic values.

“If someone says his concession shows weakness, tell them we need a leader who will show fidelity to Ghana’s democracy, not one who will cause confusion,” he stressed.

He further argued that Dr Bawumia’s guiding principle was to uphold democracy and remain truthful to facts.

“He believed in being truthful to the facts as they are,” he added.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah contrasted this with past elections, claiming that former President John Dramani Mahama did not formally concede defeat after the 2016 elections.

“From 2016 till now, President Mahama never conceded that election. Even the congratulatory message he was supposed to give to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo never came,” he claimed.

What Bawumia said after Ken Agyapong’s attacks – Oppong Nkrumah reveals [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/what-bawumia-said-after-ken-agyapongs-attacks-oppong-nkrumah-reveals-listen/ Thu, 22 Jan 2026 13:07:38 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2622513 The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has described Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as a man of strong character, focus and integrity, saying those qualities are what make him appealing to Ghanaians.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Mr Oppong Nkrumah dismissed claims that Dr Bawumia made derogatory remarks about the late Prof Albert Adu Boahen.

According to him, the allegation surfaced after Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong was told that Dr Bawumia had commented on Prof Adu Boahen’s health and his decision not to contest the 1996 NPP presidential primaries.

However, Mr Oppong Nkrumah insisted the claim was false.

“Dr Bawumia’s speeches usually last about 45 minutes to one hour, and those of us who work closely with him listen to them over and over again. There was absolutely nowhere in that speech where he mentioned Prof Adu Boahen,” he said.

He explained that it was rather comments made by Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, that were wrongly attributed to Dr Bawumia.

“It was Wontumi who made those comments, not Dr Bawumia. Unfortunately, someone told Kennedy Agyapong that it was Bawumia, and that led to the attacks and insults against him,” he stated.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah said despite the backlash, Dr Bawumia remained calm and urged his team to stay focused on the campaign.

“When he heard all the attacks, Dr Bawumia simply said we should remain focused. He told us there would be distractions in the last two weeks of the election and that we should concentrate on campaigning on the ground to win, and think about reconciliation after the winner is declared,” he noted.

He said this calm, disciplined approach reflects the character and attributes that many Ghanaians admire in the Vice President.

“That is the kind of character Ghanaians love about Dr Bawumia,” he added.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah further said Dr Bawumia stands out among the aspirants because of the clarity of his ideas and the strength of his policy proposals.

“Dr Bawumia’s ideas are clear, and his policies have the potential to positively transform lives across the country,” he said.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to hold its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026.

The five aspirants contesting the race are Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

Man’s funeral disrupted after body mistakenly buried by another family in Assin Fosu Odumasi [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/mans-funeral-disrupted-after-body-mistakenly-buried-by-another-family-in-assin-fosu-odumasi-video/ Sat, 17 Jan 2026 09:19:38 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2620402 The final funeral rites of George Kwame Oduro, a 40-year-old man from Assin Fosu Odumasi in the Central Region, have been thrown into uncertainty after his body was mistakenly buried by another family nearly three months ago.

According to information gathered by Adom News from the family house of the deceased, Mr Oduro died in September 2025, after which his remains were deposited at the Assin Brofoyedru Mortuary for preservation ahead of his funeral.

Following weeks of preparations, the family head, Abusuapanyin Asare Oduro, dispatched a delegation to the mortuary to convey the body for burial.

However, before the delegation could proceed, the family received information directing them to report to the Assin Fosu Police Station.

Speaking to Radio Fosu and Adom News correspondent Alfred Amoh, Abusuapanyin Oduro said that upon arrival at the police station, they met staff of the Assin Brofoyedru Mortuary and members of another family who had unknowingly buried Mr Oduro’s body.

According to him, police informed the family that the body of George Kwame Oduro had been mistakenly exchanged with that of a 75-year-old man and buried by the other family about three months ago.

The revelation has left the family devastated, especially as they had already completed all funeral arrangements, including cooking, payment for undertakers, sound systems, canopies, mattresses, accommodation and other logistics.

The family is now demanding compensation to cover the cost of the funeral preparations and has also called for the exhumation of the body to allow for a proper burial and the fixing of a new funeral date.

Meanwhile, some family members have expressed deep frustration and emotional distress over the incident, describing the situation as painful and unacceptable.

GPRTU seeks police, government support to curb illegal fares [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/gprtu-seeks-police-government-support-to-curb-illegal-fares-audio/ Thu, 15 Jan 2026 11:38:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2619575 The Deputy Industrial and Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Samuel Amoah, has called for police and government intervention to tackle illegal fare practices by drivers who are not part of any union.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Amoah explained that while the GPRTU has clear by-laws and can enforce fare rules among its members, it has no authority over drivers operating outside the union.

“The one thing we will do is that we need police help. We have our by-laws, and being part of the group means you have to follow these laws. Even when we reduced lorry fares by 5 percent last year, we documented it and gave written instructions for all our drivers to abide by it. But if you are not a member of the union, we don’t have the power to discipline you” he said.

He added that government engagement with transport unions is important to ensure compliance.

“If the Transport Minister calls a meeting on any fares agreement, union drivers can participate and have a say. But drivers outside the union will always find ways to overcharge unless the government intervenes,” he said.

Mr. Amoah further urged that drivers operating outside established unions or associations should either join an existing union or legally form an association to be recognised and regulated.

“The solution lies with the government, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDCEs), and the Road Safety Authority to create clear rules that will control drivers in Ghana,” he said.

His comments come after Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, criticised deliberate attempts by some transport operators to withhold vehicles to overcharge passengers.

The GPRTU emphasised that sustained enforcement and public cooperation are critical to curbing fare abuse and restoring confidence in public transport operations.

GPRTU disassociates itself from illegal transport fares [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/gprtu-disassociates-itself-from-illegal-transport-fares-audio/ Thu, 15 Jan 2026 10:36:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2619543 The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has dismissed claims that its members are deliberately exploiting passengers by charging unapproved fares amid reported public transport shortages.

The statement follows criticism from the Minister of State in charge of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who accused some transport operators of creating artificial vehicle scarcity to increase fares.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the Deputy Industrial and Public Relations Officer of the GPRTU, Samuel Amoah, said the union does not sanction such conduct and would never direct its members to flout fare regulations or abandon official stations.

“These problems happening at the roadside, where passengers are stranded and drivers take advantage to charge unapproved fares, involve vehicles that do not belong to the union. Most of these are floating vehicles,” he said.

Mr. Amoah disclosed that the union has already held internal meetings and is taking steps to strengthen enforcement among its members. He revealed that a taskforce will be deployed to ensure compliance on the roads.

“We will be hitting the streets with our taskforce to ensure that if our vehicles are found engaging in such practices, we will cause their arrest and impose sanctions,” he stated.

He further advised commuters to use vehicles from designated GPRTU stations rather than boarding vehicles by the roadside, noting that unionised drivers operate within approved routes, pay required fees, and are subject to monitoring.

“We encourage passengers to use these stations rather than catching vehicles from the roadside,” he added.

Mr. Amoah emphasised that the alleged fare abuses are largely linked to unaffiliated drivers operating outside established transport terminals, stressing that the union remains committed to upholding approved fares and protecting commuters.

Why are you still at post? Miracles Aboagye asks NaCCA Board Chair amidst teachers’ manual controversy https://www.adomonline.com/why-are-you-still-at-post-miracles-aboagye-asks-nacca-board-chair-amidst-teachers-manual-controversy/ Wed, 14 Jan 2026 13:49:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2619258 Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has called for the resignation or dismissal of the Board Chairman of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) Professor Vincent Assanful the controversial SHS Physical Education & Health teachers’ manual.

Mr. Aboagye claims that public scrutiny of the manual only began after his decision to circulate the document widely.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, he argued that but for his publication, Prof. Assanful or NaCCA at large would not have reacted to concerns about portions of the document.

According to him, the manual was first shared with him by a concerned teacher who believed aspects of the content needed urgent public attention.

He questioned how the controversy could arise if the NaCCA Board Chair was unaware of the content that had gone to print.

“I was the first person to share the document, so if we didn’t make it public three days ago, NaCCA wouldn’t have been aware of the content of their document. If the NaCCA Board Chairman is saying he is not aware, then why is he still at post? He should resign because you are supposed to cross-check and sign the first copy before the printing and all other copies before it comes out,” he said.

He further claimed that the response from authorities suggested a lack of due diligence.

“So, what are they saying? Then they are really throwing a lot of dust into our eyes,” he added.

The SHS teachers’ manual developed under NaCCA has recently drawn public attention over sections linked to Physical Health and Education, prompting debate regarding appropriateness of some content and the review processes involved.

NaCCA has issued statements addressing concerns and clarifying aspects of the material while promising further engagement with stakeholders.

Meanwhile, NaCCA has removed printed copies of the manual after admitting that sections of the content on “Gender Identity” did not align with Ghanaian culture, norms, and values.

The Council has stated it has released a revised version of the manual, updated to reflect national values and a biological understanding consistent with Ghanaian societal standards.

NaCCA-SHS teachers’ manual saga: Foh-Amoaning urges Constitution review https://www.adomonline.com/nacca-shs-teachers-manual-saga-foh-amoaning-urges-constitution-review/ Wed, 14 Jan 2026 13:16:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2619239 The Lead Advocate of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has called for a review of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, stating that amendments should reflect the values and opinions of Ghanaians.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Mr. Foh-Amoaning said the coalition had submitted its views to the Constitution Review Committee, headed by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, Executive Director of the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana).

The committee was mandated to review the Constitution and propose reforms to strengthen Ghana’s democratic governance framework.

“We, as a coalition, wrote to the committee to express our views on human rights in the Constitution. Our position, which reflects the views of most Ghanaians, is that certain provisions, specifically Articles 12 and 17, should not include LGBTQ rights. Ghanaians do not agree with that inclusion” Foh-Amoaning explained.

His comments follow the recent withdrawal of a controversial Senior High School (SHS) teacher manual by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA).

NaCCA removed printed copies of the Year 2 Physical Education and Health (Elective) Teacher Manual after admitting that sections of the content on “Gender Identity” did not align with Ghanaian culture, norms, and values.

The manual, developed in 2024 as a supplementary guide to help teachers implement the new SHS curriculum, became the subject of intense public debate after a definition within the document drew criticism.

In response, NaCCA released a revised version of the manual, stating it had been updated to reflect national values and a biological understanding consistent with Ghanaian societal standards.

“The review by NaCCA shows that educational materials must reflect our culture and values. This is why we are urging that the Constitution itself be reviewed to ensure it represents the will and beliefs of Ghanaians” he said.

LGBTQ+ Bill: Foh-Amoaning urges Mahama to match thanksgiving with action [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/lgbtq-bill-foh-amoaning-urges-mahama-to-match-thanksgiving-with-action-listen/ Wed, 14 Jan 2026 13:13:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2619255 The Lead Advocate of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has described President John Mahama’s decision to mark one year in office with a non-denominational thanksgiving service as “beautiful,” but insists that true gratitude to God must be reflected in a decisive action on the LGBTQ+ bill.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Foh-Amoaning said thanksgiving should go beyond ceremonies.

“The thanksgiving service was beautiful, but the biggest thanks you can give to the Lord Jesus Christ is obedience, not sacrifice. And obedience, in this case, means doing the right thing by passing the law against LGBTQ+,” he said.

He cautioned religious leaders and the public against what he described as self-deception on the issue.

“We should not deceive ourselves about this LGBTQ+ matter. The Bible is clear that obedience is better than sacrifice,” he stressed.

Mr. Foh-Amoaning recalled that during the 2024 election campaign, President Mahama made commitments regarding the LGBTQ+ issue and urged him to honour those promises.

“During the elections, the President promised to push this issue, so they should push it and do the right thing,” he said.

He further argued that Ghana should have voted against the renewal of the international LGBTQ+ mandate, claiming that the electorate rejected the previous Akufo-Addo administration’s decision to abstain from such votes.

“Ghanaians voted against leaders who always decide for the people behind closed doors, throw dust into our eyes, and end up destroying the nation,” he stated.

According to him, ordinary citizens bear the brunt of such decisions.

“When these things happen, it is Ghanaians who suffer the most. If God dislikes such acts, then we must also be bold and speak against them,” Foh-Amoaning added.

I don’t know JFK – Prof. Frimpong-Boateng responds to expulsion threats [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/i-dont-know-jfk-prof-frimpong-boateng-responds-to-expulsion-threats-listen/ Tue, 13 Jan 2026 16:44:58 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2618926 Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has responded to accusations from the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, who claimed he was deliberately seeking to tarnish the party’s image.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said, “I don’t know the General Secretary. I have never met him before, and I am just waiting for an official communication from the party.”

He continued, “Some people brought me statements from the General Secretary. He is very funny, and if he claims he is a lawyer, he should be careful. I don’t know when he became a lawyer or when he completed law school.”

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng also addressed allegations that someone had “contracted” him to make certain statements.

He described such claims as “very sad” and emphasized his consistency over the years, saying, “I have been very consistent. Whatever I have written or complained about the party over the years, I will bring it outside for everyone to read so they know I have been genuinely concerned.”

He added, “A party in which some people have suffered should not be destroyed by young ones. If they want to destroy it, they should quit, and the real party will start.”

The comments come after Mr. Kodua accused Prof. Frimpong-Boateng of calling the NPP a “fake party” and questioned when he reached that conclusion. Mr. Kodua alleged that the remarks were intended to create division and distract from the party’s internal primaries.

In response, the NPP has confirmed that it has invoked relevant provisions of its constitution to begin processes to expel Prof. Frimpong-Boateng.

This follows his statements on Accra-based Channel One TV on January 12, 2026, where he described the party as a “fake party” and stated he no longer considers himself a member.

Asked whether he would respond to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said he would not even attend if invited.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he described the current NEC as “fake” and said the party has been taken over by people who do not have its best interests at heart.

“What I am saying is that the party we have now, the people there are not good,” he said. “Everyone should quit and allow the young ones, who have the party at heart, to take over. NPP is not what it used to be, and they all know it.

“We should say it as it is and not beat about the bush because the crop of people we have now have destroyed the party.”

His comments come amid reports that the NPP has initiated steps to expel him following his statements on the party’s internal practices and direction.

Earlier, on January 12, 2026, during an interview on Accra-based Channel One TV, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng referred to the NPP as a “fake party” and said he no longer considers himself a member. He also alleged that the party’s 2023 presidential primary was manipulated in favour of then Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In response, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Koduah described Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s comments as “highly reprehensible” and contrary to the party’s values, integrity, and unity.

“The NPP strongly rejects the description of the party as ‘fake’ and dismisses the claims of rigging as unsubstantiated,” the statement added.

NaCCA reviewing controversial gender identity definition in SHS teachers’ manual [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/nacca-reviewing-controversial-gender-identity-definition-in-shs-teachers-manual-listen/ Tue, 13 Jan 2026 12:06:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2618759 Prof. Vincent Assanful, Board Chairman of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), has confirmed that a controversial definition of gender identity in the Physical Health and Education (PH&E) teachers’ manual for Senior High Schools is currently under review.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Prof. Assanful said the review process is comprehensive, covering the curriculum from the basic to the secondary level.

“We have instructed our team that during the review, the definition of gender must reflect Ghanaian family values,” he said.

Prof. Assanful explained that the current definition, which describes gender identity as a person’s deeply felt internal experience of gender, “may or may not correspond to the sex assigned at birth” and further indicates that gender could include being male, female, or a blend of both.

“Upon reading it, I realized it connotes LGBTQ+ definitions. This morning, it came to my attention, and we immediately took action to ensure it is addressed in the curriculum review,” he added.

He noted that in the review process, this definition should have been flagged but was missed.

“Unfortunately, it is something we can talk about. We are now making sure that when we reach that part in the review, we will carefully examine it,” he said.

Prof. Assanful also clarified that the review is not limited to the gender identity section alone.

“The whole ‘definition of terms’ section will be given a critical second look to ensure accuracy and appropriateness,” he said.

He reassured teachers, parents, and well-meaning Ghanaians that steps are being taken to prevent any inconvenience while the review is ongoing.

“We will discuss immediate measures to forestall any impact this section may have on teachers and parents until the review is complete,” he stated.

The NaCCA Chairman disclosed that the review process aims to ensure the curriculum aligns with national values while remaining educationally sound.

Cape Coast MCE announces plans for Sanitation Courts, revival of Town Councils [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/cape-coast-mce-announces-plans-for-sanitation-courts-revival-of-town-councils-listen/ Mon, 12 Jan 2026 13:45:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2618242 Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), George Arthur, has announced plans to establish sanitation courts and reinstate town councils to improve law enforcement and public order in the city.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Arthur said the sanitation courts will operate within the metropolis and aim to reduce lawlessness.

“Once they get hold of you, we won’t have to take you far. The judiciary has agreed to provide judges who will preside over these cases locally,” he explained.

He said the initiative is expected to begin around March, but before implementation, the authorities will conduct extensive public sensitisation.

“We will go to the Information Service Department, use radio stations, and visit every community to educate people about these laws,” Arthur said.

The MCE added that he personally plans to engage communities across the metropolis, including churches, schools, and other public spaces.

“As the chief executive, I will go with stakeholders and assembly leaders to ensure that citizens understand the rules before any enforcement begins,” he noted.

Mr. Arthur said Cape Coast has 45 electoral areas across the north and south, and that he manages two constituencies alongside MPs Ricket Hagan and Dr. Kwamena Mintah Nyarko.

He stressed the importance of community education in making the initiative effective.

“I believe when we implement these sanitation courts, lawlessness in Cape Coast will significantly reduce,” he said.

Nana Akomea confident Bawumia will win all 16 regions in NPP primaries [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/nana-akomea-confident-bawumia-will-win-all-16-regions-in-party-primaries-audio/ Thu, 08 Jan 2026 15:30:52 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2617386 The Chairman of the Communications Directorate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, Nana Akomea, has expressed confidence that the former is poised to win all regions in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Nana Akomea said the reception the former Vice President has received from party members so far indicates strong support across the country.

“If we are judging by the reception he has received so far, the party members have embraced him warmly. If the election goes the way the reception suggests, Bawumia will sweep all the regions,” he said.

He recalled Bawumia’s performance in the 2023 NPP primaries, where he won 14 out of 16 regions, with the Central and Volta regions being the only exceptions.

“Even now, his popularity is higher than it was in 2023. Based on how the delegates have received him so far, I believe he will sweep all 16 regions this time,” Nana Akomea added.

According to him, Bawumia began his campaign tour in the Savannah Region yesterday and will spend about a week there before moving to the Ashanti Region for two weeks.

Once he completes the Ashanti tour, he will have visited all 276 constituencies.

“I have been with him in at least 12 regions, and the reception everywhere has been very encouraging,” Nana Akomea said, noting that the campaign is progressing smoothly on a region-by-region basis.

The NPP is scheduled to elect its flagbearer on January 31, 2026, marking the formal start of preparations for the 2028 elections following constitutional reforms aimed at broadening participation in the selection process.

NPP Primaries: Nana Akomea slams prophets for dragging God’s name into politics [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/npp-primaries-nana-akomea-slams-prophets-for-dragging-gods-name-into-politics-listen/ Thu, 08 Jan 2026 15:25:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2617382 The Vice Chairman of the 2024 Bawumia Campaign Team, Nana Akomea, has slammed some prophets and pastors for what he described as the misuse of God’s name in political predictions ahead of the 2026 NPP presidential primaries.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Nana Akomea said it was worrying that different prophets were claiming to receive conflicting messages from God about who would win elections.

“What worries me is that some of these prophets are playing with God. We all know God is not human to lie. His word is one and the same,” he said.

According to him, the outcome of the 2024 general elections did not require prophetic declarations, as several independent surveys had already predicted victory for President John Dramani Mahama.

“When Mahama won in 2024, a lot of surveys had already predicted his victory. So you didn’t need a prophecy to say Mahama was going to win. Everyone knew the many issues that were working against the NPP, and that is why people voted the way they did,” Nana Akomea stated.

He questioned why prophets who claim to speak for the same God would give contradictory predictions.

“If God’s word is one, then why are some prophets saying Bawumia will win, while others are saying someone else will win? God cannot say different things to different people,” he stressed.

Nana Akomea’s comments come after the Founder and Leader of Spiritlife Revival Ministries, Prophet Bernard Elbernard Nelson Eshun, linked a series of his past prophecies to what he described as a fresh divine confirmation concerning presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong.

The Prophet made the declaration during the church’s 31st night crossover service, which Kennedy Agyapong attended with his wife.

Addressing the congregation, Prophet Elbernard said the same angelic source behind his earlier political prophecies had delivered the message to Mr Agyapong.

Reacting to this development, Nana Akomea cautioned prophets against attributing political predictions to God.

“If you are a prophet and you think someone will win, then don’t drag God’s name into it. It is not fair. Unless, of course, some of these pastors are fake,” he said.

He added, “God cannot predict victory for one person and also predict victory for another person. God does not change His mind or His words. His words are truth and straightforward.”

Nana Akomea therefore urged religious leaders to exercise restraint and responsibility in making political pronouncements, stressing that God’s name should not be used casually for personal opinions or predictions.

NPP to contest Ayawaso East by-election – Justin Kodua [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/npp-to-contest-ayawaso-east-by-election-justin-kodua-audio/ Wed, 07 Jan 2026 13:30:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2616976 The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has confirmed that the party will contest the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election and is confident of victory.

“I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t go for the election,” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem.

His remarks come after the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area Abdul-Ganiyu Ibrahim suggested that the NPP should not participate in the by-election as a mark of respect to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Mr. Kodua, this position highlights what he describes as the “hypocrisy of the NDC.”

“It is rather unfortunate to hear such statements,” he added. “Why shouldn’t we go for elections? Your MP has passed away, and you are telling us not to contest? I am very surprised by that.”

The Ayawaso East parliamentary seat became vacant following the death of its Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, on Sunday, January 4, 2026, after a short illness. Mr. Mahama, a four-term MP, represented the constituency on the ticket of the NDC.

Mr. Kodua recalled previous instances, saying, “When our MP, Ernest Kumi, passed away, the NDC came to contest the election in Akwatia. So, what has changed now? This is not about whether we will win or not. We are going to the elections, and they should not assume otherwise.”

He added that the NPP is already conducting a candidate search and will participate fully in the Ayawaso East by-election.

“We are going to test our popularity, and we will go for the elections,” he said.

Serve NPP, not an individual – Kwabena Agyepong appeals to members [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/serve-npp-not-an-individual-kwabena-agyepong-appeals-to-members-listen/ Tue, 23 Dec 2025 15:27:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2613495 A presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong, has called on party members to place their loyalty first and foremost in the party, rather than in any individual.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, he said, “People will come and go. Adu Boahen came, he left. Kufuor came, he left. Akufo-Addo came, and he has also left. We have to worship the NPP. Our first loyalty has to be to the party and not an individual.”

He added that while members may support the flagbearer, that support should come after prioritising the party.

“Even before we transfer that loyalty to whoever gets elected as flagbearer—and in this case I am praying that person will be me—even if it’s not me, it is nothing, as it is a party we are all joining,” he said.

Kwabena Agyepong, who has served as the NPP’s General Secretary, also defended his role as a custodian of the party’s history.

“I have been in the party for long, and I believe I am a custodian of the real historical record of this party. So, if someone is saying something and it’s not true, I have the right to correct it,” he stated.

He further stressed the need for strong leadership to address national challenges.

“I am here to campaign, and I urge Ghanaians that we need a leader who will change the country. We are making things worse in this country, and so we need change,” he said.

Mr. Agyepong concluded by reiterating the importance of prioritising the party over individuals. “We have to serve the NPP, not an individual,” he stressed.

The New Patriotic Party is scheduled to hold its presidential primaries in January 2026 to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

Kwabena Agyepong vows to unite NPP for 2028 elections [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/kwabena-agyepong-vows-to-unite-party-for-2028-elections-audio/ Tue, 23 Dec 2025 15:16:06 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2613510 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Kwabena Agyepong has urged members to maintain harmony and avoid insults amidst preparation for its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Agyepong warned that he would publicly reprimand and even expel any follower who engages in insulting others within the party.

“The insults by party people are not good. We want a harmonised party,” he said. “I will not tolerate anyone disrespecting others. Those who do will face consequences.”

Mr. Agyepong described himself as the most viable candidate, citing his long-standing experience within the party.

“From my role in the NPP, I have worked with Bawumia, Kufuor, Adu Boahen, and Akufo-Addo. I am the one to bring the party together, especially now when we need a unified front to win the 2028 elections,” he explained.

He recounted advice he received from former President John Kufuor.

“He told us that it’s a battle, and by all means, one person will emerge the winner. My record shows that I have always supported the candidates the party has elected, and I will respect the outcome of the primaries.”

Mr. Agyepong stated that all members must unite regardless of the results.

“We all have to be one and work together to support whoever emerges the winner,” he said, adding that some party members do not understand how to conduct themselves publicly.

“Now you see people acting anyhow in the party, which is bad. We need discipline, respect, and unity,” he noted.

The NPP will hold its presidential primaries in January 2026 to select a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

We have done nothing wrong – Former MMDCEs demand payment from Finance Ministry [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/we-have-done-nothing-wrong-former-mmdces-demand-payment-from-finance-ministry-listen/ Thu, 18 Dec 2025 10:26:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2611725 Former Dean of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) under the previous NPP government, Richmond Amponsah Agyabeng, has raised concerns over unpaid allowances owed to former MMDCEs, calling on the Finance Ministry to expedite payment.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr Agyabeng said the former MMDCEs are facing serious challenges due to the delayed payments.

“Some of our members have fallen sick, and others are struggling to take care of their families. Children are at home, and parents cannot pay school fees. This is becoming a major worry,” he stated.

He explained that all necessary documentation and processes have been completed.

“The Local Government Ministry has done its part, the Chief of Staff has done theirs, and auditors have audited everything to ensure we receive what is legitimately ours. The Finance Ministry has admitted to paying us, but we are yet to receive anything,” he said.

Mr Agyabeng stated that the delay is unjustified.

“We have not committed any crime. This is not illegal money; this is our legitimate entitlement” he noted.

He also reflected on the transition of power: “The NDC party and President Mahama were sworn in on January 8, and all our appointments were terminated. We knew that would happen, but after our termination, the government is expected to do the right thing. We fulfilled all requirements, yet this has become a challenge.”

Addressing Finance Minister Ato Forson, Mr Agyabeng expressed frustration over the delay in payments, noting that all necessary documents have been signed and that the former MMDCEs were even turned away when they visited the Finance Ministry, being told nothing could proceed without the minister’s approval.

“Last week, we went to the Finance Ministry intentionally, but we were sent away because we didn’t have an appointment with the minister. They asked us to leave, and we were told nothing could be done without his go-ahead.”

Mr Agyabeng called for immediate action, appealing to the government to recognise the legitimate claims of former MMDCEs.

“Majority of us, during our tenure, were humble, committed, and had no issues with the government. We are only asking to receive the money due to us before the year ends. What crime have we committed to be treated this way?”

He acknowledged critics who might downplay their situation: “Some will say it’s just one year of unemployment, but we did not save enough to sustain ourselves this year. This is not a complaint; this is a plea for justice.”

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Acheampong said he launched his campaign six months ago, in June, to gauge the opinions of Ghanaians.

“We set up an exploratory committee to listen to what Ghanaians and party members were saying. We realized that the party was fatigued with the current options, and what was being presented as alternatives came with a lot of conflicts” he revealed.

He added, “This became a serious concern for the party, and it was one of the main reasons I decided to step in.”

Dr. Acheampong disclosed his qualifications and experience as key strengths that make him a suitable candidate.

“Like the other candidates, I am educated and have experience in both government and business. I have a good character, a calm temperament, and I believe I can marshal the resources needed to run a strong campaign.”

He continued, “With my experience in business and politics, I am confident I can help transform this nation and guide it to the next phase of development.”

The NPP presidential primary is scheduled for January 31, 2026, and will determine the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Unemployed teachers cry foul over alleged secret GES recruitment; appointment letters from different dates emerge https://www.adomonline.com/unemployed-teachers-cry-foul-over-alleged-secret-ges-recruitment-appointment-letters-from-different-dates-emerge/ Fri, 12 Dec 2025 13:30:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2609863 Fresh evidence has emerged over an alleged “secret recruitment” by the Ghana Education Service (GES), as some appointment letters have now surfaced, reinforcing claims by unemployed trained teachers that recruitment is quietly being carried out for selected individuals, many of whom they suspect may have paid for their slots.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, organizer for the Coalition for Unemployed Trained Teachers, Paul Octhere Karikari, revealed that although no official communication has been issued by GES, some teachers have begun receiving appointment letters, some dated as far back as December 9, 2025, December 10, 2025, and December 11, 2025.

“We have not received any official communication from GES about recruitment, but we know some colleagues have already gotten appointment letters and are expected to start work on January 2026,” he said.

Karikari alleged that some recruits were asked to pay GH¢25,000 before receiving their letters.

“I don’t have that money, so I didn’t even bother. It means those without money are being left out—even though we all completed the same training,” he said.

He added that the coalition has been following up with the GES since June, yet authorities continue to insist that no recruitment portal has been opened.

Another affected graduate teacher, Richard Boakye, shared similar frustrations.

“We have to beg for money just to buy food, yet our colleagues are posting their appointment letters in WhatsApp groups. Some are paying money for recruitment. I qualify to be a teacher—I shouldn’t have to pay to get a job,” he lamented.

Appointment letters from different dates surface

The coalition says it has intercepted several appointment letters allegedly issued to some teachers. The documents, which vary by date and posting location, include:

  1. Letter dated 9th December 2025
    – Posting to Adweso SDA Basic School in the Eastern Region
    – Signed by the GES Director-General
    – Effective date of assumption: December 23, 2025
  1. Letter dated 10th December 2025
    – Posting to Boako English and Arabic Primary School in the Western North Region
    – Effective date of assumption: December 23, 2025
  1. Letter dated 11th December 2025
    – Posting to Ashaiman Senior High School in the Greater Accra Region
    – Effective date of assumption: December 23, 2025

These letters appear to confirm that recruitment is indeed underway despite the absence of an official GES announcement.

Coalition demands government intervention

Mr. Karikari urged government to step in, insisting that recruitment into the Ghana Education Service should be based on merit and transparency, not financial influence.

“We are done with school and expected automatic posting. I don’t know why some of us are being omitted,” he said.

Meanwhile, attempts to obtain a clear response from GES have not yielded a direct denial, although sources suggest “some form of selective recruitment” may be taking place.

The coalition maintains that the circulating appointment letters are proof that a recruitment process is ongoing without public notice.

Kpandai rerun: Of what use will it be to keep Nyindam in Parliament? – Gbande [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/kpandai-rerun-of-what-use-will-it-be-to-keep-nyindam-in-parliament-gbande-audio/ Thu, 11 Dec 2025 09:26:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2609331 The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has expressed confidence that the party will win the upcoming Kpandai parliamentary election rerun.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Gbande said the party is “already on our way,” adding, “We are doing preparations and campaigning hard, and we will win that seat.”

He also criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and incumbent MP Matthew Nyindam, saying, “Nyindam was in Kpandai doing campaign when the Minority was disrupting Parliament and needed numbers just to make noise. Of what use will it be to keep Nyindam in Parliament when their numbers will only be used for noise?”

Gbande accused the NPP of attempting to rig the election, stressing, “The people of Kpandai deserve better and a very peaceful constituency, but the NPP tried to manipulate that election. They did nothing for the constituency when they were in power for eight years, so it is best that the NDC wins.”

He also dismissed the idea that the NPP could win with a sympathy vote, saying, “The NPP just wants a sympathy vote, but Ghanaians won’t give them that.”

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua, challenged Gbande’s claims during the same show.

He questioned whether the events in Kpandai were “a good thing,” blaming the NDC for the confusion that erupted during the 2024 elections and accusing the government of failing to deliver on the economy.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is expected to announce a timetable for the rerun in the coming days as political developments in the constituency continue.

While the NDC welcomed the Tamale High Court ruling that nullified the previous results, the NPP has rejected the decision, questioning why the entire election is being rerun instead of only the affected polling stations.

Mr. Nyindam, the incumbent MP, has filed notices of appeal and a stay of execution against the court’s ruling.

Why is this an issue now? — Napo on Wesley Girls’ controversy [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/why-is-this-an-issue-now-napo-on-wesley-girls-controversy-video/ Wed, 10 Dec 2025 13:36:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2609008 Former Manhyia South MP, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has expressed disappointment over the ongoing controversy involving Wesley Girls’ Senior High School, questioning why it has suddenly become an issue.

“This issue had never been an issue before, so why is it an issue now?” he asked during a one-on-one interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, an alumnus of Prempeh College, pointed out the history of religious tolerance in Ghanaian schools.

“I went to Prempeh College, and I had Muslim friends who completed school with us. I know Christians who went to Muslim schools. If religion had been a real barrier, our ancestors who built these schools would not have allowed it,” he said.

He stressed that ancestors prioritized unity over religious differences.

“When the schools were being created, Methodist and Presbyterian people came together. Every part of this country has tolerated different religions while still worshipping their own gods. If we want to use religion to divide this country, then our ancestors should take over,” he added.

On the issue of school choice, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized personal responsibility.

“School choice in Ghana has always been free. Nobody forces anyone to attend any school. If a student chooses a school, they should understand its rules and regulations. If they are choosing the school for its academic standards and not because of religion, then why are we even talking about this?”

His comments come as the Supreme Court hears a case against Wesley Girls’ SHS, where lawyer Shafic Osman alleges that the school prevents Muslim students from praying, fasting, and practicing other aspects of their faith.

The Court has ordered Wesley Girls to respond within 14 days and has allowed civil society group Democracy Hub to join the case as amicus curiae.

Meanwhile, Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine has rejected claims of discrimination, asserting that the Methodist-run school retains the right to enforce rules reflecting its Christian foundation, even if this limits certain religious practices.

Prof. Jane Naana began past questions training before I became Education Minister – Napo reveals [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/prof-jane-naana-began-past-questions-training-before-i-became-education-minister-napo-reveals-video/ Wed, 10 Dec 2025 12:21:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2608963 Former Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has revealed that efforts to help students improve exam performance began before his tenure, led by former Education Minister Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Opoku Prempeh said Prof. Jane Naana recognized declining student performance and began training teachers to use past examination questions effectively.

“When she realized that student performance was falling, they employed West African Examination Council examiners and markers to train a cohort of teachers on how students answer questions,” he said.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh explained that teachers were trained to pass on this knowledge to other teachers, ensuring that all were on the same level as examiners.

“They were already putting the teachers together, and I even did some training at Kumasi Anglican Secondary School every year. So they trained teachers, and teachers train other teachers,” he added.

He said he continued and expanded the initiative when he became Minister of Education.

“What I did with the West African Examinations Council was to present questions from the last ten years, along with answers and examiners’ reports, so that every student could prepare effectively. The printing of questions is not unique to the NPP government, but we ensured that every student in their final year had access to the last ten years’ questions and answers to understand what to expect,” he said.

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for 2025 were released, sparking national debate. After years of strong pass rates under the Free SHS policy, the results show a sharp decline.

Core Mathematics pass rates fell from 66.86% in 2024 to 48.73%, while Social Studies dropped from 71.53% to 55.82%. English and Integrated Science recorded slight declines but remained relatively stable.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s comments highlight the importance of teacher training and access to past questions in improving student outcomes and addressing declining performance in key subjects.

Nyindam thanks Minority for standing by him amid parliamentary dispute https://www.adomonline.com/nyindam-thanks-minority-for-standing-by-him-amid-parliamentary-dispute/ Wed, 10 Dec 2025 09:10:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2608862 The embattled Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpandai Constituency, Mathew Nyindam, has expressed gratitude to the Minority in Parliament for showing solidarity amid the ongoing dispute over his parliamentary seat.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Nyindam said the support from the Minority has highlighted that he has not been treated fairly.

“I will thank the Minority for showing brotherhood and letting everyone know that I have not been treated well. On that basis, I thank them,” he said.

He added that even some members on the Majority side acknowledge that he has been unfairly treated.

“No one will be happy about the disruptions that happened in Parliament, but sometimes, if you have no one to speak for you, what else can you do?” he said.

Nyindam’s comments follow Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to defer a ruling on the disputed Kpandai parliamentary seat.

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh had argued that no government business should proceed until the matter was resolved. However, the Speaker ruled, after a voice vote, that parliamentary sittings would continue.

The Minority responded by chanting and attempting to disrupt the session, leading to a heated standoff between the two sides of the House.

Earlier in the day, tensions escalated when the Minority blocked Mahama Ayariga from responding to demands to withdraw a December 4, 2025, letter from the Clerk to Parliament, further fueling the dispute.

You have been unfair to me – Kpandai MP tells Speaker Bagbin [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/you-have-been-unfair-to-me-kpandai-mp-tells-speaker-bagbin-audio/ Wed, 10 Dec 2025 09:05:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2608857 The embattled Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpandai Constituency, Mathew Nyindam, has accused Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin of being unfair to him as an individual and as a legislator.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Nyindam said Parliament is meant to be a place where every MP can be heard, but he feels he has been denied that right.

“The Speaker has not been fair to me. When we talk about democracy and the rule of law, Parliament is where an individual should be heard. What he has done to me means he has not given me a fair chance,” Nyindam said.

He added that as Speaker, Bagbin should have protected him, recalling that the Speaker has previously witnessed and handled similar disputes.

“Even in the Gyakie Qyayson issue, he was there as the Speaker and witnessed the matter. Everyone who becomes an MP and has an issue in Parliament, the Speaker has seen it. So to treat me like this, I don’t know the motivation behind it,” he said.

Mr. Nyindam expressed confusion over the decision to contest his seat, insisting that he should have been allowed to present his side of the story.

“Whatever they took to court, I don’t understand why I am being treated this way. I don’t even know why they want to take my seat from me. At least allow me to tell my side, but they didn’t, and subjecting me to this kind of treatment leaves me speechless,” he said.

His remarks come after a Tamale High Court ruling annulled his parliamentary election victory and ordered a rerun in the Kpandai Constituency within 30 days. Following the ruling, Parliament formally notified the Electoral Commission (EC) of the vacancy.

In a letter dated December 4, 2025, the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, informed EC Chairperson Jean Mensa that the judgment delivered on November 24, 2025, necessitates a fresh election.

The notification, issued under Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution, officially triggers the electoral processes required for the rerun in Kpandai.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Nyindam said he finds the situation confusing and unfair.

“I can’t say I am an MP anymore, and for whatever reason, they are contesting my election. Sometimes I am even confused because I have not committed any crime. I don’t know what interest they have to declare my seat vacant,” he said.

He described the situation as frustrating but affirmed his commitment to remaining focused and keeping a clear conscience.

“What is happening is frustrating me as a human being, but I will keep my focus, keep my conscience, and pray that the truth will come out,” Nyindam said.

The MP insisted that there is no evidence suggesting he rigged the election or engaged in any wrongdoing. He added that the issues raised have already been addressed by the Supreme Court.

“I remain confident and grounded in faith as the case proceeds to the Supreme Court. My people know what I can do,” he said.

Nyindam’s comments come after Parliament formally notified the Electoral Commission (EC) of a vacancy following the High Court’s ruling.

‘Forgive me’ – Bishop Owusu-Ansah apologizes to Judge and public over Daddy Lumba ruling comments [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/forgive-me-bishop-owusu-ansah-apologizes-to-judge-and-public-over-daddy-lumba-ruling-comments-listen/ Mon, 08 Dec 2025 07:51:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2608022 The host of Adom Ahengua, Bishop Yaw Owusu-Ansah, has issued a public apology to Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur and the general public over his earlier comments on the High Court ruling concerning the late musician Daddy Lumba’s marriage.

Speaking on his show on Monday, Bishop Owusu-Ansah acknowledged that his remarks were inappropriate and regretted the tone he used.

“Last week Monday, I made some comments on the judgment about the Daddy Lumba marriage saga. I have thought about it and realized that my words were not right. I was not enthused about the way I expressed myself,” he said.

His apology comes after a fiery address on the same show last week, during which he openly criticized Justice Smith Arthur following her ruling that both Odo Broni and Akosua Serwaa should be allowed to perform widowhood rites for the late musician.

At the time, Bishop Owusu-Ansah questioned the judge’s moral standing and warned that the ruling would have spiritual consequences.

“You, the judge, wait. We will come to you with the word of God. You want to tell us that adultery is not a sin? God will deal with you, and He won’t let you go free,” he had declared.

He also invoked biblical references, including the story of Nebuchadnezzar, insisting that the ruling undermined the institution of marriage and threatened social and moral foundations.

“No legal interpretation can override the teachings of scripture. You can’t bend the law to change what the Bible has said,” he said at the time.

The controversy arose from the High Court’s November 28, 2025, decision, which responded to a petition filed by Akosua Serwaa, Daddy Lumba’s legal wife.

She sought full recognition as the sole spouse entitled to perform widowhood rites. Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur, after hearing the case, ruled that both Serwaa and Odo Broni could participate in the customary rites.

The judgment frustrated supporters of Akosua Serwaa, who insisted that only she should have been granted the right.

In his apology, Bishop Owusu-Ansah asked for forgiveness from the judge and the public.

“I am apologizing to the judge who ruled the case and to everyone who was not pleased with my comments. May God continue to bless us all and bless Ghana,” he said.

If Sammy Darko were in Police Service, he wouldn’t even be a Superintendent – Kpebu on OSP Director https://www.adomonline.com/if-sammy-darko-were-in-police-service-he-wouldnt-even-be-a-superintendent-kpebu-on-osp-director/ Thu, 04 Dec 2025 10:56:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2607059 Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has clarified that he never referred to the Director of Strategy, Research and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Sammy Darko, or other staff as “junior staff.”

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr Kpebu said: “I never called anyone junior officers. I only referred to a subordinate who works under Kissi Agyebeng. I wonder why Sammy Darko doesn’t understand. No wonder things don’t get done at the OSP. Those who work there are all under Kissi.”

He stressed, “I never used the word ‘junior.’ You don’t even understand the word ‘subordinate.’”

Mr Kpebu further questioned Sammy Darko’s experience in the legal profession, saying: “Sammy Darko, when did you finish law school and what cases have you handled in court? I know lawyers who completed law school 25 years ago and are not even close to the rank of a commissioner of police, yet Sammy Darko’s position at the OSP is equivalent to that rank.”

He added: “If Sammy Darko were in the police service, by now he wouldn’t even be a superintendent. I know lawyers in the police service for more than 20 years who are just going to ASP. But you, Sammy Darko, already look at your position at the OSP and think you are higher than someone else.”

Explaining his choice of words, Mr Kpebu said: “I used the word ‘subordinate,’ and Sammy Darko should go and check the meaning before coming at me. Even when you use the word ‘junior,’ and they say he is junior to the OSP, the person is not wrong. It just means he is not the one who is the boss.”

Mr Kpebu is expected to report at 11 a.m. today for further investigations relating to the alleged obstruction, while a separate date will be scheduled for the inquiry into his corruption allegations.

A soldier called me stupid and I fired back – Martin Kpebu on OSP encounter [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/a-soldier-called-me-stupid-and-i-fired-back-martin-kpebu-on-osp-encounter-audio/ Thu, 04 Dec 2025 10:38:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2607096 Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has described the events leading to his arrest by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as “shocking” and “unnecessary.”

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr Kpebu said yesterday marked the third time he had gone to the OSP over his corruption allegations against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi.

He recounted: “I moved further into the yard to speak with another person, and when I turned, a soldier warned me, ‘Next time you come here and do that, I will show you paa.’ I was shocked to hear that.”

Mr Kpebu said he responded calmly, telling the soldier: “You cannot stop me from going out.” According to him, the soldier then insulted him, calling him a “stupid man.” He replied, “I asked him what I had done wrong.”

He further stated, “Even the presence of soldiers there is not right. As a lawyer, there is no law to stop me from going about my business.”

Describing the situation at the OSP premises, he said, “Mostly when I go to the OSP, I park my car in the yard and speak to the media. They didn’t invite me, but I was there because of the seriousness of the matter.”

He explained that while he was giving interviews, a police officer asked him to move aside.

“I moved about five or seven meters away. After the interview, I walked back into the yard, passed by a police officer at the entrance, and he started saying that they allowed me to park at the OSP yard, but I went outside, and next time I come, we won’t allow it. I didn’t understand it because there were no rules posted, and nothing at the security indicated otherwise.”

Mr Kpebu emphasized, “I told the officer he has no right to stop me, as I am neither an accused nor a suspect.”

His arrest occurred on Wednesday, December 3, over allegations of obstructing an officer of the OSP.

He was later granted bail and directed to return to the OSP for further investigations into the alleged obstruction of justice.

A separate date will be announced for the continuation of the inquiry into his corruption allegations. Mr Kpebu is expected to report at 11 a.m. today for further investigations relating to the alleged obstruction.

2025 WASSCE: We must stop thinking students are not brilliant – Former Deputy Director-General [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/2025-wassce-we-must-stop-thinking-students-are-not-brilliant-former-deputy-director-general-audio/ Wed, 03 Dec 2025 12:57:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2606720 Former Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, has explained why some students in Senior High Schools (SHS) are made to repeat a year, saying it is part of an educational process rather than a punitive measure.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Tandoh said repetition has always been applied when students have not mastered the material.

“At first, repetition was done when students had not done well. It is a process,” he said. “Before you repeat a student, you follow a process that is different from the normal one. It is not the mass repetition we used to see in schools.”

Dr. Tandoh stressed that every learner has a different pace of learning, noting:
“Education is a process. Everyone’s pace is different because we have different kinds of learners.”

He argued that in the past, the education system often failed students, particularly kinesthetic learners, because teaching was primarily auditory.

“What we have done in this country for a long time is destroy much of our human resources because the system taught students in ways that did not match their learning style. Kinesthetic learners were made to learn in an auditory way, and they struggled,” he said.

Dr. Tandoh added that the new curriculum introduced during his tenure trains teachers to identify the learning styles of students and adjust their teaching accordingly.

“If we are unable to help students according to their learning needs, we end up thinking that the students are not brilliant—but that is not true,” he said.

He stated that the aim of repetition is to support students in mastering the content and building their confidence, not to label them as failures.

2025 WASSCE: The narrative that double-track caused poor results is wrong – Former Deputy Director-General [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/2025-wassce-the-narrative-that-double-track-caused-poor-results-is-wrong-former-deputy-director-general-audio/ Wed, 03 Dec 2025 12:45:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2606714 Former Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, has dismissed claims that the double-track system is responsible for the poor performance in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Tandoh said there appears to be misinformation about the relationship between double track and learning outcomes.

“We have not really interrogated the data properly,” he said. “The double-track system started in 2018. It actually increased contact hours for students. First, students spent 1,080 hours in front of a teacher per year, but with double track and adjustments to the academic calendar, they now spend 1,134 hours a year. That is 162 extra hours in a three-year cycle that students spend with teachers.”

Dr. Tandoh stressed that the argument blaming the double-track system for the 2025 results does not hold up when you examine the data.

“The first batch of double-track students started in 2018, and their first exams were in 2021. In 2021, the average score in the four core subjects was about 60 percent; in 2022 it was 63 percent; in 2023, 65 percent; and in 2024, 68 percent. So if the double-track system was truly the cause of the poor performance, why were results acceptable for the past four years?” he asked.

His comments come in response to claims by the President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonu, who said he was not surprised by the widespread poor performance in the 2025 WASSCE, insisting that the double-track system disrupted academic consistency for students over the years.

Dr. Tandoh argued that it is ultimately the contact hours between learners and teachers that matter.

“At the end of the day, it’s about the interaction between the learner and the teacher. The idea that double track is the problem is wrong. We need to interrogate the data very well before drawing conclusions,” he said.

He added that his concern now is ensuring that the quality of human capital produced by the education system remains high.

“Our focus should be on improving the quality of teaching and learning so that Ghana produces well-prepared graduates,” he concluded.

WASSCE performance drop exposes gaps in teaching and learning – PTA https://www.adomonline.com/wassce-performance-drop-exposes-gaps-in-teaching-and-learning-pta/ Wed, 03 Dec 2025 12:39:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2606697 Deputy PRO of the National Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Irene Sam, says Ghana’s declining WASSCE results reflect systemic challenges in the country’s education system that require urgent attention.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, she attributed the poor performance to persistent issues spanning from basic school to senior high school, which have weakened overall learning outcomes.

“Our education system is not very attractive, and its ripple effect is what we are seeing in students’ learning outcomes,” she said.

Ms. Sam highlighted challenges such as inadequate learning materials, low teacher-to-student ratios, and unconducive teaching and learning environments.

She called on WAEC, the Ghana Education Service (GES), parents, and all stakeholders to review the entire education system and identify practical solutions.

Describing the situation as a “wake-up call,” she said the PTA will intensify monitoring and engage the Ministry of Education to push for necessary reforms.

She urged Ghanaians to avoid politicising the issue and stressed the PTA’s readiness to work collaboratively with the government to support students.

Ms. Sam emphasized the importance of well-trained teachers, noting, “We want well-trained quality teachers who are up-to-date with modern teaching methods and capable of meeting students’ learning needs.”

She also offered the PTA’s support for infrastructure development to ease pressure on the double-track system and called for increased awareness among parents and students on the importance of studying diligently and avoiding exam malpractice.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Teye argued that the introduction of free education has removed deterrents that previously compelled students to take their studies seriously.

“In an institution where you invest, it is essential to have laws that protect your interests. The government does not benefit from public schools because they provide free education; instead, it is the government that is investing in these schools. In the past, when students failed, there were punishments or deterrents to motivate learning. Now, students progress regardless of their performance,” he noted.

Mr. Teye called for the state to track students who consistently skip school, describing absenteeism as “causing financial loss to the state.”

He suggested that parents of poorly performing students should bear some financial responsibility to encourage greater involvement in their children’s education.

“Today’s students often prioritize their phones over studies. While providing tablets is positive, many use them for games instead of learning. Students who are willfully truant should face consequences,” he added.

The teacher also criticised the Ghana Education Service (GES) for allowing unqualified or poorly trained teachers to lay the academic foundation for learners, arguing that this contributes to weak performance at higher levels.

“A mistake made by the GES is allowing individuals who lack a solid understanding of the fundamentals to shape the foundation of education. Additionally, some teachers are unprofessional and fail to meet the necessary standards,” Mr. Teye said.

He emphasised that strengthened discipline, parental responsibility, and improved teacher professionalism are essential to reversing the decline in student performance.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Tandoh said the GES’s attempt to attribute the drop in results to stricter invigilation and anti-malpractice measures amounts to suggesting that previous years’ good performances were achieved through cheating.

According to him, such an inference is “unfortunate” and “illogical.”

“This statement from GES infers that until this year, WAEC has not been able to run credible exams, which to me is very bad and unfortunate,” he said. “For an agency whose head is the chair of the WAEC council to make such inferences about the Council is troubling.”

Dr. Tandoh questioned why the GES would publicly make a statement that indirectly undermines WAEC when the Director-General of GES is statutorily a member of the WAEC council.

“What would GES have been explaining if students had performed well this year?” he asked.

He argued that instead of shifting blame, GES should take responsibility for systemic gaps that may have contributed to the poor outcomes.

“GES is supposed to accept responsibility rather than saying the exam is a true reflection of performance,” he stressed.

Dr. Tandoh further warned that the Service’s earlier position could create even more problems.

“If GES maintains that previous high performance came from cheating, then any improvement next year would mean GES allowed cheating. That argument is illogical and unacceptable,” he said.

He also stated that GES must avoid being drawn into political exchanges, urging the Service to focus on evidence-based analysis rather than defensive rhetoric.

While GES has dismissed claims that poor management practices contributed to the performance decline—and insisted that teacher allowances and academic support programmes remain intact—Dr. Tandoh strongly disagreed.

According to him, several key interventions that support both teachers and students were not implemented this year.

He listed them as:

  • the academic intervention grants,
  • chief examiners’ workshops,
  • teacher training sessions, and
  • core subject teacher training programmes.

“These interventions were not available for this batch of final-year students. Whether GES admits it or not, these things matter—and they may be contributing factors,” he said.

He urged Ghanaians not to accept explanations that downplay these lapses.

“They should stop throwing dust into the eyes of Ghanaians,” he added.

Dr. Tandoh maintained that the national conversation should focus on diagnosing the real causes of the results decline and restoring confidence in both GES and WAEC through transparency, accountability and data-driven reforms.

Government’s aircraft purchase plan okay but.. – Nitiwul [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/governments-aircraft-purchase-plan-okay-but-nitiwul-listen/ Tue, 02 Dec 2025 12:48:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2606252 Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has expressed support for strengthening the Ghana Air Force but has criticised the government’s current aircraft procurement plans under its GH₵9 billion, three-year allocation.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Nitiwul said he backs investment in the Air Force but questioned the decision to prioritise two new planes—a long-range executive jet and a short-range jet—over more urgently needed military equipment.

“I don’t have a problem with procuring the jets; the Air Force needs modern aircraft. However, what the government plans to do with the GH₵9 billion over the next three years does not adequately equip the force. I appreciate the resource allocation, but I am not satisfied with the purchases they intend to make. They want to buy two planes: one long-range executive jet and one short-range jet,” he said.

Nitiwul stressed that Ghana requires a more reliable presidential jet, noting that the current one is no longer dependable.

“At this point, we really need an additional presidential jet, as the current one is not reliable. I would prefer that we focus on acquiring a long-range jet and postpone the purchase of the medium-range jet for now; the old jet can serve as a backup,” he added.

He also urged the government to prioritise acquiring fighter jets and helicopter gunships instead of transport helicopters, insisting these would more effectively strengthen Ghana’s defence capabilities.

“I disagree with how the NDC is handling this situation. The focus should be on fighter jets for the military and investing in helicopter gunships rather than transport helicopters,” Nitiwul concluded.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Nitiwul said, “I am not comfortable with that arrangement. I feel it’s a mistake for the President not to appoint anyone.”

He stressed that while it is the President’s prerogative to make appointments, having a dedicated minister for defence is crucial.

“No nation would leave its Defence Ministry empty for months. I have not heard of that happening before,” he said.

The law maker stressed the importance of preparedness, pointing to regional security challenges.

“Maybe Ghana has not entered into a conflict yet, but look at what is happening in Burkina Faso. No one thought we would be in the situation we are in,” he noted.

He urged the President to act, saying, “If the President will not mind, he should really look for someone to be the Minister. There are very many capable people who can man that position, and he should do it.”

Stressing the President’s role as Commander-in-Chief, Nitiwul added, “It is not for nothing that the President is called the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He should use that authority to ensure the Ministry of Defence is properly overseen.”

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Nitiwul said, “If the President genuinely wants to audit lands properly, then he should start from 1992. Starting from 2017 will make it look like political witch-hunting.”

He added that he had even provided the government with a list of lands they could prioritize for the audit.

“If the government wants to do things right on lands, they should start from 1992 and ensure it is done properly,” he said.

Mr. Nitiwul also expressed concern over the timing of lifting certain bans on lands.

“I thought they would have waited for the oral report, completed all the checks, and explained everything to Ghanaians before lifting the ban. For you to lift the ban while we don’t even know what you are doing is wrong,” he stated.

However, he stated that if the government conducts the audit correctly, he will support it.

“If my government was in power and they were doing it, I would support them, and I will do the same for them. They should continue to do what is right, and we will support them,” Mr. Nitiwul added.

He further clarified that the President is not directly in charge of all aspects of government operations, noting, “The daily running of the economy is handled by the finance minister and his team. That’s why the President has ministers.”

His comments come after President John Mahama directed the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, together with the Lands Commission, to immediately conduct a comprehensive audit of all state lands allocated, leased, or sold, particularly between 2017 and 2024.

Freeze all government properties for 10 years – Nitiwul [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/freeze-all-government-properties-for-10-years-nitiwul-audio/ Tue, 02 Dec 2025 12:22:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2606250 Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has called for a complete freeze on all government property and land transactions for the next decade, arguing that it is the only way to protect state assets from mismanagement and abuse.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Nitiwul said Ghana needs a reset in the way government lands are managed, regardless of which political party is in power.

“I wish that for the next 10 years, let’s freeze all government properties,” he said. “If we really want to protect government property, we should freeze everything for the next 10 years and reset ourselves properly when it comes to lands.”

He stated that the proposal is not politically motivated.

“It doesn’t matter who is in power—whether it is Bawumia or Mahama—let’s freeze everything,” he insisted. “I don’t care which government is in power. This is about protecting the state.”

The Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, added that claims that his party allocated government lands during its time in office are inaccurate.

“When we were in government, we didn’t give lands. A lot of the government lands in Accra were not sold during our time. Most of the lands were sold way before we came to power” he stated.

He also reacted to recent reports that government has lifted restrictions on the sale and allocation of state lands.

“I’ve read somewhere and seen signs that they claim they have lifted the transaction of government lands,” he said. “But if we really want to protect government property, we should freeze everything for the next 10 years and reset properly.”

His comments come after the President announced the lifting of the temporary ban on state land transactions, stating that all future allocations, leases, or sales must follow transparent procedures, use digital verification systems, and be subjected to strict oversight.

Mr. Nitiwul, however, believes transparency alone is not enough and insists that a full moratorium is necessary to safeguard the country’s land resources.

I won’t do anything to disgrace my family – Nitiwul defends integrity [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/i-wont-do-anything-to-disgrace-my-family-nitiwul-defends-integrity-listen/ Tue, 02 Dec 2025 12:16:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2606246 Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has firmly rejected allegations that he sold military lands during his tenure, stressing that he would never engage in any act that brings disgrace to his family.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Nitiwul said his upbringing and the values instilled in him guide every decision he makes.

“Where I come from, there are some things I won’t do,” he stated. “My name, Nitiwul, is special. It’s a Konkomba name, and it is just my father who bears it. So I am very careful. I will not do anything that will bring disgrace to me or my family.”

He explained that neither he nor his parents come from wealthy backgrounds, so he has no reason to pursue questionable deals.

“My father was not rich but he was very modest. My mother is not rich—she’s still alive. So if it is money, where am I going to get it from? Why would I sell soldiers’ land, and for what?” he questioned.

Mr. Nitiwul added that if he ever needed money, he would resort to legitimate means such as farming.

“If I need money, I will go and do my farming,” he said. “If you gift me something, I will take it. I won’t deny that I have received gifts. I have received a lot of gifts. But to willingly go and do corruption or sell military lands—I won’t do that.”

He stressed emphatically: “I will never sell military lands.”

The former Defence Minister urged the public to disregard the allegations, insisting that his record and personal principles speak for themselves.

I’m not surprised by poor results; 2025 WASSCE reflects true student performance – NAGRAT President [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/im-not-surprised-by-poor-results-2025-wassce-reflects-true-student-performance-nagrat-president-video/ Mon, 01 Dec 2025 15:41:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2605863 The President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonu, has attributed the decline in the 2025 WASSCE results to systemic issues in Ghana’s education system, describing the results as a true reflection of students’ performance in senior high schools (SHS).

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Carbonu said he is not surprised by the outcome.

He pointed to the double-track system as a major factor affecting learning continuity.

“The double-track system is hugely to blame for the poor performance we are seeing this year. Students go to school for a few weeks and then have to go home because another group has to take over. Where do we run our education like this?” he asked.

He also disclosed the lack of a structured school calendar as a problem.

“We haven’t created an environment where a child knows exactly when school starts and ends, even during holidays. This uncertainty affects learning outcomes.”

On the grading system, Mr. Carbonu explained that variations in results over the years are expected.

“Our education system can decide to award 65 A’s in one exam, 70 in another, and 80 in another. The grading is not stagnant. For what I know, this year’s results are a true reflection of students’ academic performance, considering all the factors,” he said.

He dismissed claims that teachers failed to teach or that results were manipulated.

“I don’t have any reason to believe teachers didn’t do their part or that someone tampered with the results. The truth is, this is the actual performance level of our students.”

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed a national concern following the release of the provisional 2025 WASSCE results, which showed a worrying increase in the outright failure rate (Grade F9) across all four core subjects compared to the 2024 results.

But Mr. Carbonu concluded by urging stakeholders to reflect on the systemic issues in education.

“We have to blame ourselves as a country. If children go to school for only a few weeks or months due to the double-track system, this is exactly what we should expect in their results,” he stressed.

Gov’t confirms petitions against EC Chair, deputies and Special prosecutor forwarded to Chief justice https://www.adomonline.com/govt-confirms-petitions-against-ec-chair-deputies-and-special-prosecutor-forwarded-to-chief-justice/ Mon, 01 Dec 2025 13:04:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2605793 The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has confirmed that petitions seeking the removal of the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, her two deputies, and the Special Prosecutor (SP) have been officially received and forwarded to the Chief Justice for action.

Speaking on Joy Midday News, Kwakye Ofosu stated that all required procedures at the presidential level have been completed.

“Every process that needed to be done has been undertaken. The process for doing so is quite clear. At this stage, the process has left the hands of the president beyond conveying the petitions to the Chief Justice. There’s little else that the president does in this particular instance. Everything now rests with the Chief Justice, who I believe will act in accordance with Ghanaian law,” he said.

His comments follow President John Dramani Mahama’s receipt of 10 petitions last week calling for the removal of the heads of these public institutions. Seven of the petitions concern EC Chairperson Jean Mensa and her two deputies — Dr Bossman Eric Asare, in charge of Corporate, and Samuel Tettey, responsible for Operations. The remaining three petitions call for the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.

Under Article 70(2) of the Constitution, the president, acting on the advice of the Council of State, appoints the Chairperson, Deputy Chairpersons, and members of the Electoral Commission.

The law further provides that the Chairperson and deputies enjoy conditions of service similar to Justices of the superior courts, and their removal follows the same procedures used for judges.

The EC Chair’s conditions align with those of a Court of Appeal Justice, while the deputies correspond to High Court Justices.

Kwakye Ofosu assured the public that the Chief Justice will follow due legal process in addressing the petitions.

Teachers take just 20 cedis for three hours of invigilation, driving exam malpractice – GNAT President [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/teachers-take-just-20-cedis-for-three-hours-of-invigilation-driving-exam-malpractice-gnat-president-audio/ Mon, 01 Dec 2025 10:20:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2605712 President of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Rev. Isaac Owusu, has highlighted low teacher remuneration during exams as a contributing factor to exam malpractice in the country.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Rev. Owusu revealed that teachers are often paid as little as 20 cedis for invigilating an exam for three hours.

“The invigilation is on contract. WAEC says they can only cater for snacks, and if anything beyond that, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has to provide. When teachers complain, WAEC tells them snacks are all they can offer,” he explained.

He added that such low remuneration sometimes forces teachers to accept bribes.

“This is why some teachers take 1,000 cedis as a bribe—they cannot survive on 20 cedis for a whole day’s work.”

Rev. Owusu stated that GNAT has raised these concerns with WAEC, GES, and other stakeholders.

“As a union, we are working to review this situation and resolve it,” he said, warning that inadequate support for teachers contributes to corruption and undermines the education system.

His comments come after the release of the provisional 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

A total of 461,736 candidates from 1,021 schools sat the exam — a 0.24% increase from 2024 — while 5,821 candidates (1.26%) were absent.

The most concerning trend was in Core Mathematics, where over half of candidates — 220,008 students — failed, marking the worst performance in seven years.

GNAT President attributes rising exam failures to politicisation and Capitation delays https://www.adomonline.com/gnat-president-attributes-rising-exam-failures-to-politicisation-and-capitation-delays/ Mon, 01 Dec 2025 10:13:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2605641 The President of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Rev. Isaac Owusu, has attributed the rising rate of exam failures among basic school pupils to excessive politicisation of education and chronic delays in the release of the capitation grant.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Rev. Owusu said government alone cannot effectively run basic education without the active support of parents, noting that attempts to block Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) contributions have worsened conditions in schools.

He explained that the capitation grant is insufficient to cover operational costs, as it must be spread across examinations, sports, meetings, minor repairs, and teaching materials.

According to him, no basic school receives more than GH₵1,500 per term, making it difficult to provide quality education without additional support.

Rev. Owusu warned that without necessary learning materials, pupils are likely to struggle during WAEC examinations.

“We must stop the blame game and work together to fix the system. Government has its role, parents have their role. Excessive politicisation is hurting education,” he stressed.

He commended Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu for clearing all outstanding capitation arrears since assuming office, noting that the timely release of funds for the current term has provided some relief.

Rev. Owusu further called for the reactivation of PTAs, insisting that parents who are willing and able to support schools should not be prevented from doing so.

Isaac Owusu, has urged calm following the release of the provisional 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, stressing the need to await the Chief Examiners’ report to understand the full situation.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Rev. Owusu said the report would clarify what led to issues in the exams before conclusions are drawn.

He attributed some of the poor results to widespread indiscipline in schools, noting that some students “don’t even attend school regularly,” and that when teachers attempt to discipline them, they are often blamed.

He also disclosed logistical challenges, including delays in the provision of teaching and learning materials by the government, which affects the quality of education.

On exam fundamentals, Rev. Owusu observed that many students struggle with basic tasks, such as shading answer sheets correctly, contributing to underperformance.

Parents were also urged to take a more active role in their children’s education, particularly day students that spend excessive time on social media instead of studying.

He stated that parental supervision and care are critical to improving student outcomes.

Rev. Owusu also warned against over-reliance on foreign study materials, explaining that “some students depend heavily on foreign resources, and when the questions don’t match what they’ve studied, it becomes a challenge for them.”

On the overall state of the country’s education system, he admitted that there has been negligence and declining standards.

“We have been careless with our education system. Standards have fallen to a worrying situation. Some children simply don’t like learning. If we don’t put proper measures in place and ensure everyone does their part, our education sector will continue to face serious challenges,” he said.

His comments come after WAEC released provisional results showing that 461,736 candidates from 1,021 schools sat the 2025 WASSCE — a 0.24% increase from 2024 — while 5,821 candidates (1.26%) were absent.

Galamsey debate heats up in Akyem Oda as MP clashes with Kotoku Krontihene [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/galamsey-debate-heats-up-in-akyem-oda-as-mp-clashes-with-kotoku-krontihene-listen/ Sat, 29 Nov 2025 11:08:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2605125 Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has clashed with Obrempong Gyamfi Saforo Kyere, the Akyem Kotoku Krontihene, over illegal mining in the constituency.

Speaking during a galamsey dialogue at the Akyem Oda lorry station when the Dwaso Nsem team visited, Mr. Acquah questioned why the chief raised concerns about galamsey in the local market.

“Do we do galamsey in the market? The market is not a galamsey site. Why should Nana bring such issues here?” he asked.

“You don’t bring something that will denigrate your own seat when we are having a meaningful discussion. No one is a kid here; everyone is a man. I don’t know if Nana is doing politics or not, but I respect the chief and don’t want to disrespect him. Still, he should have been careful not to bring this issue here,” the MP added.

Mr. Acquah also dismissed claims that illegal mining only began under the NDC administration.

“During the NPP time, there was galamsey in Akyem Oda too. Even when I was MP, some people carried out illegal mining in the market area while we were building a new market,” he said.

He stated that Ghana has laws regulating mining and stressed the importance of following legal procedures.

The Krontihene, meanwhile, was reacting to Mr. Acquah’s earlier assertion that Akyem Oda was galamsey-free during the NPP regime.

The chief questioned the MP’s claim, saying, “Even during your time as MP, illegal mining occurred. Some of your own constituents carried out galamsey in the market while you were in office. To say there was no galamsey during the NPP era is simply not true.”

The exchange highlights the continuing tension over illegal mining in the constituency, with both the MP and traditional authorities pointing fingers over responsibility and enforcement.

We will file an appeal – Papa Shee after court ruling [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/we-will-file-an-appeal-papa-shee-after-court-ruling-video/ Fri, 28 Nov 2025 18:40:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2605234 Evangelist Papa Shee, chairman of the committee overseeing preparations for the final funeral rites of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, says the family will appeal the Kumasi High Court ruling that recognised both Akosua Serwaa and Priscilla Ofori Atta (Odo Broni) as valid spouses of the musician.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Papa Shee said the family is dissatisfied with the decision and maintains that they have original documents from Germany proving that Daddy Lumba and Akosua Serwaa were legally married.

According to him, the German Embassy issued official documents to Serwaa, including a marriage certificate and a marriage book containing family history.

“We are not satisfied with the court ruling. The judge is the only one saying the documents are not authentic. Both Daddy Lumba and Akosua Serwaa are German citizens, so the documents cannot be fake,” he stated, adding that the family will pursue an appeal “for transparency” and to protect the musician’s legacy.

Papa Shee also disclosed that some family members prefer the funeral to be held in March to allow time for proper planning, completion of the autopsy, and for Lumba’s children—some of whom are writing exams or abroad—to be available.

The Kumasi High Court ruling legally recognised both women as spouses of the late musician, permitting them to jointly perform widowhood rites.
