Jordan Ayew has officially parted ways with Leicester City after the club confirmed the release of the Ghana international alongside 10 senior players following the expiration of their contracts.

The announcement comes in the aftermath of Leicester’s relegation from the Championship to League One, prompting a major squad overhaul ahead of next season.

Ayew is among several high-profile departures from the club, including captain Ricardo Pereira, Patson Daka, Jamaal Lascelles and Wanya Marçal.

The 34-year-old forward joined Leicester ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, bringing valuable experience and versatility to the team’s attack. He featured regularly throughout the season, scoring six goals in 42 appearances despite the club’s difficult campaign.

Before moving to Leicester, Ayew spent six years at Crystal Palace, where he made more than 200 appearances. The experienced attacker also had spells with Swansea City and Aston Villa after beginning his professional career with Olympique de Marseille in France.

Over the course of his career, Ayew has amassed more than 500 club appearances and scored over 100 goals, cementing his place as one of Ghana’s most accomplished football exports in Europe.

In a statement announcing the departures, Leicester City also confirmed that several loan players — including Jordan James, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Aribo, Dujuan Richards and Divine Mukasa — will return to their parent clubs.

Despite his club uncertainty, Ayew remains an important figure for Ghana national football team and is expected to captain the side in their international friendly against Wales national football team on June 2 at Cardiff City Stadium.

He is also widely expected to be included in Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico later this year.
