The docile nature of some Ghanaians has been blamed for the incompetence of people elected into leadership positions.

According to the Executive Director of the Bureau of Public Safety, Nana Yaw Akwada, Ghanaians are not angry enough so leadership gets away with everything.

Commenting on the current state of the Accra-Tema Motorway on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Thursday, he opined that “we are not angry enough, so we will continue to die.”

He cited a research done by his outfit which has revealed the true state of the motorway, yet four days after publication nothing has been done.

“The Ghana Highway Authority, four days after our research, has not even moved to the motorway to assess the issues; no one cares,” he fumed.

He said driving on the motorway now is a matter of life and death, but State authorities seem unconcerned.

Mr Akwada said there are 45 illegal u-turns and 21 unapproved routes on the Tema Motorway, so drivers are forced to stop suddenly on several occasions which could cause fatal accidents.

“Trucks and tricycles have taken over the speed lane, so they are now undertaking on the motorway, not overtaking, which is causing many accidents,” he added.

The Public Safety expert suggested that the motorway be declassified into urban highway to allow pedestrian crossing, traffic lights and bus stops to prevent the incessant accidents.
