The Forward Operating Base (FOB) of Operation Vanguard have arrested two Chinese nationals suspected to be engaging in illegal mining at Taabusere the in the Amansie East District of the Ashanti region.

The two were arrested during patrols conducted over the weekend.

The suspects were handed over to the Datano Police for further investigation.

Similar patrols conducted on the August 9 and 10, 2018 by the various FOBs led to the seizure of several items but the team made no arrests.

The patrols were conducted in Kwabeng, Damang and Mbaa Baase in the Amenfi West and Huni Valley Districts of the Western region, Apaabena in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central region and Amponyasi, Atakwamekrom in the Adansi South and North Districts of the Ashanti region.

Adom News has gathered that two Excavators, 33 Changfan machines, 5 Water pumping machines, 1 DAF Excavator engine, 16 Floating platforms, 4 Washing platforms and 4 Cylinders were also immobilized.

Col. Amoah Ayisi, the National Commander for Operation Vanguard said items seized were 2 Control boards, 4 Monitors, 4 Batteries, 1 Water pumping machine and 1 Excavator turbocharger.

He warned that Operation Vanguard will not bow to any local pressures but will continue to help save the environment.
