The General Secretary of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) in the Greater Accra Region, Nana Poku has accused the government of acting unconcerned in supporting aggrieved customers of embattled gold dealership firm, Menzgold.

Following cries by aggrieved customers of Menzgold and calls from political parties and other civil society groups for government to intervene in the matter just as it did for customers of DKM, the government issued a statement to announce it would employ all the powers of the State to ensure that NAM 1 is found and investigated.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Nana Poku said the government was not doing enough in reclaiming the funds of the gold dealership firm even after the death of ten customers.

“The government is not solely responsible for the payment of the monies but the frozen assets can be sold to pay these customers except that the government is acting unconcerned in dealing with the issue,” he noted.

Nana Poku, however, urged the aggrieved customers to exercise restraint and not be too hard on themselves in dealing with the locked up funds.

“I pray God should grant any trader whose money is locked up at Menzgold patience. Do not kill yourself because your money is locked up even though it’s painful; rely on God. Do not think about it too much else you might commit suicide,” Nana Poku urged.
