Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong has denied asking NPP delegates to reject all aspirants perceived to be President Akufo-Addo’s favourites at the party’s National Delegates Congress.
The legislator is reported to have asked aspirants who campaign on President Akufo-Addo’s support to be rejected.
He is also reported to have said the party is led by best of officers in the various constituencies and that the officers will elect the most suitable people to run the party.

But reacting to the allegations on Adom TV’s Morning Show, “Badwam” on Tuesday, Mr. Agyapong expressed shock at the development, describing it as false.

He accused some elements in the NPP and the media of scheming hard to destroy the relationship he has with the President.
“I have never said anything like that. Some media houses and some people are only trying hard to tarnish my image and also destroy my relationship with Nana Addo. The President should not pay attention to these naysayers because those claims are false,” he said.

Meanwhile, the maverick MP is shocked at the humiliating defeat of Greater Accra Regional Chairman aspirant, Archibold Cobbina, a candidate he fully supported.
“I am rather surprised that my preferred candidate in the just-ended elections, Archibold, lost.  I fully supported him because of his immense support to the party,” he revealed.

The results of the election, however, placed Mr Ken Agyapong’s anointed candidate a distant third after polling only 66 votes against the 276 votes garnered by the winner, Divine Agorhom and 269 votes for Mr Alfred Boye who was second.
