A poultry farmer rearing over 400 birds at Dome-Kwabenya in Accra had only 30 birds left after Monday morning’s rainstorm that ravaged a lot of homes in Accra.

According to the farmer, Kojo, he received a phone call at dawn, asking him to rush over to his poultry farm or he loses all his livestock as the flood had made its way into his farm.Flood in Pokuasi Accra, Ghana (70)

Before he could get to the farm, however, the flood had succeeded in killing almost all his birds, virtually living him with no farm.

The distraught farmer has attributed the flooding of his locality to the unrepentant attitude of residents to litter drains will without regard for its attendant consequences as they are witnessing.

“I rear over 400 birds here and this is the first time the rain has come here. I attribute this to a choked bridge in the area. I have lost over 400 birds with only about 30 surviving”, he said.Flood in Pokuasi Accra, Ghana (71)
