The Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should be matured about the invitation from the police to their national chairman, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

According to him, if truly he is not guilty there is
nothing wrong with him cooperating with the law enforcement agency.

“NDC is overly emotional. They are targeting Tiwaa, who is under the Inspector-General (IGP), forgetting that she takes orders from the IGP. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo as a responsible citizen should go for questioning.

“NDC should be matured. It is wrong for the
democracy of the country for a large political party like them to say they will
not allow their chairman accept the invitation of the police. If he is truly
not guilty he would have run to the police to investigate who is accusing him
falsely,” he stated on Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.

Mr Afenyo-Markin further stated that this is the
time for the NDC and their chairman to show Ghanaians how law abiding they are
as citizens rather than insulting and attacking the police.

He added that the comment of the
former President John Dramani Mahama about the police invitation of
their party chairman was very unfortunate.

“It is not as if the police went to his house to
handcuff him but was sent an invitation and for the flagbearer, who is a
former president, to say the allegations raised against their chairman is
baseless and useless without any investigation is rather unfortunate,” he
stated.
