The Tema Regional Police Command are on the heels of four people who allegedly stormed a forex bureau at Community One, Site 17 and robbed them of an unspecified sum of money.
The four, reports suggest, attacked the Mintason Forex Bureau located near the Community One MTN office at about 5:30 pm on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
Amidst the firing of gunshots, they proceeded to loot huge sums of money yet to be quantified.
While they were leaving with their booty, they sighted police and in their bid to escape, they snatched two motorbikes from its owners leaving behind a Toyota Corolla with registration number GR 4208-17.
Confirming the incident, Tema Regional Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwa, stated that they got a distress call that some people had attacked the forex bureau.
A team of police officers was quickly dispatched to the scene and various points within the Tema Metropolis.
“Suspects on sighting Police, fled on board motorbike which was snatched from the public, abandoning the car they brought in the process.
“They also made away with an unspecified amount of local and foreign currencies”, he explained on Oman FM.
The police, he continued, impounded the car which had items like a magazine loaded with one live 9mm ammunition and additional car number plate with number GR 2619-17.
ASP Darkwa appealed to the general public to provide vital information which will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
