In line with government’s agenda to improve public transportation, the Ministry of Finance has initiated processes for the acquisition of high occupancy buses for the two Public Bus companies, State Transport Company (STC) and Metro Mass Transit (MMT).

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta announced this in Parliament Thursday while presenting the midyear review of the 2018 budget.

He noted that a total of 50 buses have been procured with the first batch of 30 intercity buses already delivered to MMT which will soon be deployed for service.

The remaining 20, the Finance Minister said, are expected to be delivered by the end of the 3rd quarter of 2018.

For the Intercity STC Coaches, Mr Ofori Atta noted that procurement processes have been completed for the acquisition of 100 buses to augment the existing fleet.

My firm assurance to you and the entire nation is that the Akufo-Addo government has not wavered in the commitments we made to Ghanaians. We have spent the first 18 months in government, fulfilling the major promises we made to invest in our people”, he added.
