Acting Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has said that he is targeting 70% of valid votes that will be cast at the party’s national congress for the chairmanship slot.

The man who has been calling on delegates within the ruling party to maintain him as the chairman of the party said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Friday, that he arrived at that figure after a vigorous campaign.

Freddie Blay was appointed the acting chairman of the ruling party, following the suspension of substantive chairman of the party, Paul Afoko.

He has since been credited with returning the party to power.

This achievement notwithstanding, Freddie Blay, faces stiff competition for the position from Stephen Ntim and Alhaji Short.

Though he admits that these competitors, especially Stephen Ntim are ‘tough nuts to crack’, Freddie Blay insists that he is confident of winning 70% of valid votes cast.

Definitely, Stephen Ntim will be a hard nut to crack but we need to crack it…,” he said.
