President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo has been advised to move to the Flagstaff House as soon as possible.
According to former Deputy Minister for Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President’s move will avoid the inconvenience his presence poses to traders around his private residence at Nima.
“Nana Addo should just move to the Flagstaff House and allow the traders to work. It doesn’t speak well of a President who claims to have the citizens at heart [to inconvenience them]”, he said on Accra-based radio Neat FM.

National Security has given shop owners and traders around the private residence of President Nana Akufo-Addo one week to pack out of the area.
The traders are expected to be compensated with amounts ranging from GH₵ 3,000 to GH₵ 10,000, amounts some of the traders say is inadequate.
National Security officials visited the area on Friday and handed the traders compensation packages to some shop owners but some of the traders expressed discontent.

Reacting to the happenings, however, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said he does not see why the traders should move away from the president’s neighbourhood.
He indicated that the state had already prepared an official residence for the president inside the Flagstaff House.

“As soon as Nana Addo became President, his residence was prepared for him at the flagstaff house and so the earlier he moved to the flagstaff, the better” he stated.
“These traders and artisans were with you when you were not the president. So simply because you’ve become a president does not necessarily mean that their source of livelihood should change. So to resolve this issue, I think the President must move to the flagstaff house” he said.
